Did anyone else hear it on Friday night against North?

Friday night two weeks ago against North, i was walking up to gate 3 to get into the ground and at times you hear someone over the speak try to direct people etc etc. Who ever was talking and made an announcement that Collingwood officially launched a bid to J.Browns mgt for a 5 year deal worth 1.1Mil a year. Everyone around me stopped and couldn't believe it.

Did anyone else here this, it was announced about 7pm.

1. Why would a crowd-controller, whose job is direct people to best available entrances, announce it? I mean, he's not there as a sort of modern-day Town Crier is he?

2. If it was true, surely the mass media would have picked up on the story? I've heard/read nothing on this in the media.

I am glad someone else heard it. I was waiting for people outside gate 1 and the guy just kept repeating it over and over as if it was the latest breaking news. Obviously when you give some people a microphone they turn into smartarses.

Yeah I heard this. As did others with me, otherwise I'd be thinking I must have dreamt it because it was too strange! He said numerous times that Brown had knocked back Brisbane's offer and was in talks with Collingwood. LOL. Obviously he thought it was a ripper of a joke... he misssed april fools day though.
