Dimma's trades for Hopper and Taranto looking about as good in hindsight, as Clarko's final moves for JOM and Titch, if not potentially worse, as at least both our lads were largely on the park.

Hopper is perenially injured at this point.

Don't dismiss Graham Wright's involvement in it. It looks like he's already started going down that path at the Pies. They've basically lost Henry, Ginni and a first round pick for Schultz and some other lower draft picks. The bloke is genius at plugging holes in great teams, but I believe his ego gets in the way when a team is on the slide.

I read Cotchin's autobiography just out of interest and from what he said and reading between the lines it felt like that was a big reason he cut and run. His "Mrs Hardwick" shtick and the footy club as a family didn't quite fly with a lot of the players after that.

The Lions aren’t in decline. They have the Ashcroft brothers waiting in the wings and barely a player about to retire. Injuries and whatever happened in the off season has knocked them off course, for now.
