They traded their 2nd round pick next year for that Sam Murray, puzzling decision
Or they may ship out a decent player for unders. Or they have a history of not taking FS. Read Kelly and Stewart.

I think they're all nominally "in" the academy. I believe they favour soccer though, so unlikely to be drafted or whatever - his daughter plays footy :)
I heard they swapped to soccer recently.

Maybe they are wanting to be International Rules specialists.

Disgraceful

Not wanting to pursue a sport where you'll be universally despised straight off the bat before you ever play a game is disgraceful?

I don't know how much that really has to do with it, considering Steph is playing VFLW for us this year and was put on half the promotional material (so not keeping a low profile). Maybe it affects them differently and her love for the sport and the club outweighs the other stuff more than it does for the boys, but I think most likely they just prefer the round ball sport. *shrug*

They have both favoured soccer for years as well, this isn't a new thing. I'm more thinking about the incentive to pursue it, because you just know the club would give them every shot at making it if that's what they wanted.

The 'idea' of three Hird boys donning the sash touches the heart.

The knowledge that it may not happen is what feels sucky.

That said, they have their own identities, their own interests and good luck to them no matter what they do.

My two cents worth: if the media camped out the front of my family home as a kid and made my parents miserable, I'd want to distance myself from that world (not saying that's the case).

JD also favoured soccer at the same age. So plenty of time to change, if they want to. Or they might also not be very good. Also fine by me.

If they're the 2 I'm thinking of they used to be chaos at VFL games on the lawn next to the pool, Alwyn would bring a little laundry bucket of little footies and by the end they'd only go home with half of them, balls would end up on the roof, on the ground, over the fence and on the players balcony.
