All I said was different specialists may have different recommendations.

"Following consultation with numerous specialists, and consideration of the advised options as to how to treat the issue, we decided it was best for Jason's health, and ongoing football performance, that he have the surgery now to release the pressure on the arteries and restore normal blood flow to his lower legs."

Indicates to me that surgery is one of a few options that were considered, and that's fine, I don't really care either way. We may have had something else recommended to us.

I don't understand the vitriol when every afl club and player is constantly analysing potential treatments and weighing up risks involved in each course of action.

Anyway, I'll step back as you all seem hell bent on 'winning' this discussion and I don't appreciate being called thick. Best of luck. Hope he goes well.

Ice baths to treat a vascular blockage! Good Lord! Has it been diagnosed as popliteal artery entrapment syndrome or is that just the prevailing theory? From what I've briefly read that's a calf surgery issue, what if it's Chronic exertional compartment syndrome?

It is strange to report artery compression if it was actually an issue with muscle fascia.

I for one welcome the North Hobart Launcestons to the AFL, with a double headed apple as their mascot, symbolising the agricultural produce and practices of the Isle.

I'd rather see the SUNS licence go to Tasmania tbh. In fact I'd like to see N0rf improve a bit, so they no longer need special assistance from the AFL - the draft is compromised enough as it is.

Someone needs to report this case to Worksafe Victoria. North Melbourne have an obligation and duty to create a safe work environment for JHF, and it is open to question whether those obligations are met. The environment was possibly unsafe for a host of reasons including not adequately addressing JHF’s severe and debilitating pain, inappropriate treatment of the pain and potentially damaging him, vilifying JHF so as to affect his mental health, etc.

Yes, it is strange. No, they are both causes. The only reported symptom has been bilateral pain in the calves and feet.

Unglik was the Head Doctor of the Kangaroos from 1983-2001, which included two Premierships in 1996 and 1999. He served as Chief Medical Officer at the AFL for 16 years and has been instrumental in the formation of many of the medical policies and regulations the league adheres to.

In 2014 Unglik was awarded Life Membership at the AFL.

Unglik’s experience and expertise saw him selected as an Olympic Doctor in Sydney in 2000 and All-Australian AFL team doctor in 2000 and 2001.

There's not going to be any dull moments with Jason. In a year I saw him do some of the most stunning things I've ever seen a player do in a North jumper, both good and bad.

I bear him no personal ill will. Along with some others, I sponsored the kid, met him a couple of times, he's a nice young man.

But he's got a great deal going on, much of which will likely play itself out over his career.

If you think simply getting him back home changes things, or it was all because of us, you're kidding yourselves, but that will become apparent, indeed already is.
