Applying the bolded to last season and we don't come out with Nicki on top.

Wasn't the best across H&A. Wasn't the best across finals. Wasn't the best across the two combined.

Poor Nicki, failing to be the best even when the criteria is set by Fadge with his Fadgorithm.
So who was the best across Home and Away and Finals combined, and why, if it wasn't Daicos?

So you alone decide who is the winner?

We have no real measurement or criteria?
People can logically assess a season to determine who was the best performed player across a whole season.

It's not rocket science.

Those who don't have Bont and Daicos 1 and 2 for 2023, in either order, aren't doing it right.

And the only reason you'd have Bont ahead of Daicos is as a result of leadership, which is very reasonable.

Contested marks were only recorded for about 150 of the games Hird played in, but in those 150 games he took more contested marks in one game about 100 times more than the number of contested marks Nick has taken in 50 games.
Young Hirdy ..19 to 22…he had this habit of the tap in front with both hands and take the chest mark while still
Moving forward. Almost always took the grab.
Later he developed the one grab mark and was very very strong over head.

I watched him at training one night at windy hill when he was about 28 (2001?)…he went over to the side and had a trainer stand close just 2 mtrs from him and boot the ball as hard as he could for about 50 kicks at Hird’s hands in front.

Never dropped one.

Same as Matt Rowell. What a fascinating share.

What’s the point exactly?

Hird is a better contested mark than Daicos and Rowell? Wowee!

Nah ..it’s the fact they don’t take contested marks ..ever. Hird did.

You want lil Nicky to spend his entire career not taking contested marks?

That would be strange indeed…

Where's Fadgey ...

'Who is this Alan and how many games of footy did he play to be the purveyor of AFL level hardness?
Alan (aka Fadgey) was a 3rds coach.

Possibly 4ths team at a big club.

Where participation is the main goal as a coach and you’re just happy 22 odd blokes actually turned up
To fill the numbers.

It’s one step up
From coaching a special needs side …or as they call it now “ All
abilities “ footy.

For mine that’s where the real goat candidates really start to separate themselves
Great midfielders are dime a dozen but those top tier players also excel at other parts of the game

The very best can virtually play any position to a elite level

I believe biggest problem for Daicos is FIGJAM syndrome.
He absolutely reads his own press.
When he’s pointing to others on the field he’s probably telling them to be as good as him in the next contest, which is quite the irony.

The question now is who will be the team mates to confront him and tell him he’s lazy and at risk of squandering his talent ?

Yep…hence Nick will never be a forward ..just a very good rebounding half backer ..like our Nick ..the Hind variety

It’s also disrespectful and ignorant of the players that came before daicos.

There are special once in a generation players that aren’t even (or maybe barely) in the discussion to be the goat and daicos isn’t within 13 galaxies of those players. Guys like Andrew McLeod. Micheal Voss. Simon black. The list could go on and on.

He’s not even as close to good as Dane Swan was for a start.

Dane Swan was mostly playing VFL at Nick’s age, when he did get a game in the AFL he looked mediocre, didn’t get going until his fifth year. Likewise Ablett was hardly setting the AFL world on fire in his third year. Daicos has things to work on and the GOAT discussion is silly, but what he has done so far in his career is impressive.

And someone taught him about diet too at the time. Not McGuire…but probably a trained dietitian.

The guy lived on dim sims and KFC before that.

He stripped down …and MM was happy…even though he was annoyed he couldn’t turn Swanny into a vegetarian and make him read Aristotle musings.
