Autopsy NMFC vs WBD

Ziebell didn't really demonstrate the smarts required for a player of his experience when he had that shot from the boundary, he could come in a lot more and open the goal face..instead he slightly ran in and hooked it, just dumb.

Also our long term problem that seems like will never be fixed, our defending from a behind, dogs easily bring it out time and time again like every other team does to us, always an easy get out kick outside the 50, absolutely gives me the sh1ts.

Whilst it's always disappointing to lose, the three most important things we needed to get out of the game were a packed house, a cracking game and a good showing from our young players. And, by golly, we got all three!

Simpkin, Garner, Turner, Williams, Hrovat, Dumont and McDonald all showed talent. Add Wood, Clarke, Ahern, EVW, Hibberd, Wagner, Mountford, Durdin an early draft pick and one or two big name trades and we will have assembled a genuinely exciting young list.

Far from being despondent, I'm excited by what came out of yesterday's game.

Exactly this. It isn't that I only want to hear good stuff about the club, but some clowns here ONLY post negative shit, and then feel the need to repeat their negative claims everywhere, regardless of topic, as though somehow pissing off all the people who come here to talk footy is going to magically make changes at the club.

Is there a mechanism to have an opt in thread mods? we could have nomination processes or something, and you lose your privileges if you flip out too much. I want to read content from the 50 or so good posters on here without having to trawl through pages of crap to find it.

(and before guys get personal about the quality of my posting I'm not suggesting I am one of those 50. I would be perfectly happy not having an account if the above were to happen)

Seems you're just looking for validation of your own viewpoints, which perhaps isn't everyone's idea of a message board. However, many do seem to think that's what a message board is about.

Why is Bontempelli called the Bont when Chuck would be more appropriate. I have never seen a bloke throw the ball so much and continually get away with it.
Libba junior is not to bad it either. The WB coach is 'publically' a non comment man about umpiring. Umps seem happy to let a bit go.

Young libba is an absolute gun at the throw, or the controlled tumble to a teammates advantage when tackled. How the umps let these throws go... amazing. They should ping him every time without fail to eliminate this ugly blight on the game (and to discourage what he does).

Has anyone mentioned how good Gibson was last night? Seemed to win every contest that came his way.
Yes to both :thumbsu:

Atley should have known better. That short kick to Hrovat in a 50/50 at CHF should have been a long kick deep into the 50 where he had BBB, Higgo and LT and their opponents. A turnover there will always result in a shot at goal against. No short to 50/50's, that is under 15 stuff Shaun.

The issue with only 1 KP forward, we looked reluctant to kick long. Opposite of the Cats game.

One thing I noticed our guys doing was only taking two steps behind their marks before trying to make a decision of where to kick to. This wasn't just a couple of times, it was a bunch of guys doing it constantly. You need to quickly get ten meters off your mark, otherwise you're forced to kick the ball high.
I was going off about that too. I forgot about it until you mentioned it.

I heard that they wanted to have different viewpoints expressed but without abuse and excessive repetition. Have to agree. But then I stopped modding so I could cheerfully ignore the worst of it.

Delusion at AFL house continues with the AFL claiming that the ruck free was the correct decision...before they said visual cues were the method of communicating but now the goal posts have changed again with audio cues...
In other words
"we have lost the plot we have no idea what we are doing but we'll make shit up as we go"

I saw enough yesterday to believe we won't be mired in a malaise of mediocrity for very long.

This x 1000, I'm genuinely impressed. We didn't play awfully, you guys just played well. Great to see Hrovat looking at home at AFL level, Brown and Simpkin are guns, there's a lot to like moving forward about North.

Let's hope the Good Friday becomes a permanent and successful fixture, our clubs can only benefit from a deepening rivalry and increased exposure (assuming we get invited back and it remains Roos v Dogs).

The latter can only be a good thing for the competition IMO. For too long the concept has been that only certain clubs "deserve" blockbusters. Personally I've thought for a long time that the forced double ups for "some" clubs cheapen the spectacle. But, if you can't beat 'em... we need to make this a massive game each year. Even if the Dogs were an away club again it is great publicity to have two smaller Melbourne teams having the guaranteed air time. In fact it's officially the only game with two smaller teams as the anchor for a big day.

Good on Brad Scott for his press conference with Zaine. It'd be easy to think "Stuff this week lost I want to get out of there asap" but he showed heart under that tough exterior hes known for. Hope the kid enjoyed it

Seemed Nick Bowen was the only one prepared to ask Zane a question.

But yeh I agree. Some people here question him (Brad) towards our club. I certainly dont.

I thought we were playing you again next year, as a Dog's home game- is that correct? If so, i will certainly be coming

You go all right, StiffArm, IMHO.

Well **** me sideways.
Now we are get teams multi nominating and the other team is somehow supposed to know which one is genuine.
The game is a farce. WWE-esque.
Te AFL has ****ed a great game.
This sport is almost dead to me. Long live North.

In light of that news, I'm expecting 10 campaigners to put their hand up for ruck in rest of games this weekend, while one quietly tells the ump he's the ruckman. Thus guaranteeing a free kick for their team. Farcical.

So instead of engaging in meaningful, critical debate, you just want some sort of echo chamber thread where everybody waxes lyrical over Scott and the club direction and any dissenting opinion is immediately censored?

I admit that there were some garbage posts, from myself included, in the emotional aftermath of a match that was particularly heated, but I put that down to people expressing their passion and despair over the result without the use of a filter. I agree, however, that some of those posts are in bad taste if they're made in the proceeding days.

There are many people who have posted excellently, with compelling arguments, about their concerns over the direction of the club and the list in the medium and long term under Brad. It seems though that lately around here there has been an increase in the amount of people critcising these people for having these perfectly valid opinions. Just because people hold these opinions it doesn't mean that they are embarrassing or not adding to the quality of the debate.
