drd23 is right tho. discussions/fights are just as *ed today as 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, etc years ago on this board.

and they're just as engaging and good today as they were in the past.

like all things, there are valleys and highs. people can get jaded or real life take on greater importance -- new job, wife, baby, financial strife, rehab, etc etc

but hopefully the long timers can find their way back here eventually. things free up, the nfl gets better for them, whatever.

Personally, I enjoyed it when you mod'd the board far more than I do now. But that's not to say Blacky or BPG are terrible or anything. It's just that you had a certain structure re; the threads and we always knew certain things would happen on certain days and threads would be organised in a certain way.

Maybe that's just coz you spent a lot more time on here than most mods do. But I enjoyed the set routines and structure of the board, always felt it ran more smoothly.

Again though, that's my perspective, perhaps others see it completely differently or don't even understand what the hell I'm talking about.

I don't think the standard of posting is any worse, if anything I think we sometimes get better discussion / analysis. The banter is undoubtedly shitter though.

What people usually mean, when they say the board is worse, is that they're enjoying it less- but there's almost always a material explanation for these things. Usually it has to do with whether they're getting the affirmation that they come here for, or not.

Cowboys fans disappeared from the board en masse, except for their thread, right around the time that the Eagles won the Superbowl. Amazing coincidence, they all realised that the game was doomed and they didnt like the rest of the board then. If we'd lost I'm sure they'd have popped up. Did the board become worse then, or is it because they lost their feeling of mastery? Trapped in Jerry's hell world, they clung to the whole 'at least we've won a superbowl' for decades, and with that gone so was their feeling of superiority. BDN broke them.

Steelers fans- that's self explanatory too. From a dynasty to also rans, and some fans just aren't willing to be around for those periods.

It's always a satellite reason....be it what you said, and/or real world stuff, and/or some tiff with someone or a mod, and/or etc. Often too much pride, taking the bat and walking home type stuff. Appreciate the tone of your post but for the record, I've followed both the Pats and the NFL for as long as I can remember and in all honesty, I'm becoming (have become) fed up with the product the NFL is supplying. It's flag football, over commercialised social cause bullshit where all I want is three hours where supremely talented athletes are pitted against each other. Might be time to retreat to a cabin in the woods.
