The race for finals in 2017 has become a tight one, perhaps the tightest since 1993. Figured I'd make a thread with a poll so that we could look at what every one things visually, and discuss who we think will be in the final 8 at the end of the season and in what order.

Here are the details for each team in the run home to the finals, this includes their ladder position, round 22 and 23 opponents, premiership points and win percentages:

*sorry, I should have named the stadiums they play at, instead of home or away, as that makes Vic v Vic games complicated.

St Kilda and Hawthorn out. Almost no chance they play finals. Toss up between Essendon, Bulldogs and Eagles for 8th, top 7 now will all play finals. Bulldogs most likely unless they drop one of their two games, in which case it's over to the Bombers

Essendon in eagles out
Don't see us making it.
We are relying on 2 of the Dogs, Dees or Eagles dropping a game. Can't see the Eagles winning again so I've ruled them out but I'm not sure the Dogs or Dees will lose again. Port will have plenty of Bomber supporters sitting at home cheering them on this week

1. Adelaide
2. GWS
3. Richmond
4. Geelong
5. Sydney
6. Port Adelaide
7. Melbourne
8. Essendon

I think Melbourne are pretty much locked in now.

Bulldogs vs Port a huge game for Essendon and Bulldogs supporters. I think West Coast, though not completely out, have it too tough

Don't let us down Port

Port will have plenty of Bomber supporters sitting at home cheering them on this week

I will even forgive them for Wanganeen if they win.

We will lose to Gold Coast. Will be our Carlton vs Melbourne game from dees POV last season.
This also my concern, Essendon too often don't rock up against teams they should beat.

Do you have a Richmond vs. Essendon first week, or Port vs. Essendon?

Sydney essendon
Port melbourne

I think sydney beat the crows, but tigers win both games

I think hawks will win for hodge round 23 and beat the dogs

i wouldnt count west coast out just yet as stated by their coach. they were in a rut mid season last year yet somehow found their mojo to defeat hawthorn, gws and adelaide consecutively. i think west coast match up well against gws, the game this year between them the only time they have lost. spotless like the adelaide oval doesnt hold any demons to the eagles unlike stadiums in melbourne. and there is always josh kennedy. i think they might knock us over from a huge effort in potentially the last game at subiaco.

Rd22
Ade beat Syd
Dogs beat Port
Pies beat Cats (seem to have their number)
GWS beat Eagles
Ess beat GCS
Hawks beat Carlton
Dees beat Lions
Rich beat Freo

Rd23
Hawks beat Dogs
Dees beat Pies
Syd beat Carl
Cats beat GWS
Port beat GCS
Ess beat Freo
Rich beat StK
Crows beat Eagles

Top 8
Crows
GWS
Tigers
Cats
Syd
Port
Dees
Dons

Crows v Cats
GWS v Tigers
Swans v Dons
Port v Dees

2 finals in NSW, 2 in SA.
quiet 2 weeks in melbourne :)

Eagles will lose to Giants
Eagles will beat Crows

Dees will beat Lions
Dees will lose to Pies

Bombers will lose to GC
Bombers will beat Freo

Bulldogs will lose to Port which will end their season

So comes down to % out of Dees, Bombers and Eagles. 2 of them get in you'd have to favour Essendon and Melbourne given the easier teams they play against

If Essendon do finish eighth and play Sydney , nothing would be better than to see them beat Sydney and knock them out straight away. The reaction and tears from Sydney supporters after another choke in a final would be priceless.
