Out: Ross, Edwards.
In: CCJ, Grimes.
Agreed, hopefully the coaches listen this time. Like, surely we get CCJ in this time? Only reason why we used to go with this structure is that our smalls were really good at putting the pressure and getting results in our forward line. Now that they don’t do much anymore, we need to look at going taller to stretch the opposition defence instead because that’s where we have the talent IMO.

We don't have a midfield. It hit me when I finally finished my first beer late in the last quarter. How are we supposed to compete with full strength top 8 sides with almost none of our starting midfield out on the park. Last week was heroic by the second stringers when you look back at it.

Agree with this - compare the dogs/tigers midfields last week - was an absolute bloody miracle we won & almost entirely attributable to the skip

If Ross pounds that kick in & we score from a contested mark/crum you do have to wonder how this game would have gone

Our "system" has always had this cats side rattled but in the ensuing minutes it seemed like all those years of breaking Geelong mentally evaporated
The Ross turnover was the turning point of the match.

Dusty should have kicked that goal to put us four up in the first term rather than hand balling to Faarts.

Agree. Needs to be a directive that, unless you can get the ball to a player in a better position by handball that will not be pressured by an opposition player, you take the shot from inside 25m.

We leave far too many goals on the table by trying to be unselfish and a golden opportunity for an easy goal goes begging because the oppo closes the handball recipient down with a tackle, smothers the handball or we get a rushed kick away.

Just back yourself FFS.

What's the free kick tally so this season for and against? Either we are the most undisciplined side ever or the Umps are blatantly evening the competition. Did Selwood set up an Umpire foundation?

Not to take away how bad we played in the second half. Couldn't take a mark in backline or forward for love or money. Bolton, Pickett and Baker tried hard. Broad and Vlaustin down back - just wow how bad they were without Grimes in lead. Lynch, Rewolt and Castagna - useless.

Is season over? We can't expect like last week that we can play one intense quarter and win. Our consistency and effective ball-use is well down. Our intensity first half excellent. I haven't seen us hang our heads like we did in second half.

I honestly cannot see us contesting the flag this season. If we won again from here it might possibly be the greatest sporting dynasty achievement of all time. Not just AFL, but any team. That should be the motivation for the rest of this season.

The Ross turnover was the turning point of the match.

The broad dropped mark and then his shank kick 3 minutes later to give up 2 goals from direct turnovers was the turning point for me.

If anyone is blaming the Umpires for a 10 goal loss, that’s a reach...4-4 is how we’ve looked in flag years....If Grimes was there, Cameron doesn’t kick 6...Cotchin, Prestia, Lambert...Nick underdone...If we lose to the Giants next week, we can probably get a nervous twitch...

Not to mention how the game is evolving into a kick/mark game. We need another tall target to stop a 3 v 2 on Lynch and Jack.

100% especially when your names dusty and ya one of the best finishers going around.

Great game by the Cats.

We looked fumbly in the back half.

Mansell never looked right after his head hit. I like him in the side but he may lose his place with Grimes coming back in.

Vlastuin will be better for the run and with Grimes back.

Hope Edwards is OK. Not sure we have a suitable replacement for him. Perhaps Naish comes in for a run on the outside and Pickett stays as an inside mid without the rucking duties.

We need to persist with Ross and RCD even though they were well beaten tonight.

It’s time to play CCJ. We need another third tall and a genuine 2nd ruck option. Playing Pickett there is ridiculously arrogant and costs us clearances and goals.

Our three small forwards look terrible when we are losing. If MRJ lights it up in the VFL he may be a shot for next week as well. That said, Baker could play small forward. It could even be the opportunity Stack is looking for.

With Grimes in and Edwards out I still think there is one or two changes in addition to this.

For mine....

Out- Edwards, Mansell, Rioli
In- Grimes, CCJ, Naish

We will rebound next week.

People wonder why we don’t take our chances. We bomb it on lynch head all night, he needs to lead and we have one classy small in shai. We need more class down there. Stack should come in ASAP
Not holding tackles and dropping chest marks are a sign of commitment, you need to commit your body for these fundamental actions to be effective. Like to see the stats on those two measures tonight. We played scared/disinterested. It seems if we get a rev-up from the press or we get written off that we are spurred on to produce a winning effort. The sub 100 percent effort is a by-product of the sustained success, Lynch is perhaps the prime example, what else does he need to achieve? Got 2 flags, big contract.
Watching tonight felt surreal, it was like the Wallace and other unsuccessful years, we’d match a team for a half then be blown away.
