Saints are out to $4 and we are $1.25, what am I missing?
3-2 including a narrow loss to Geelong with Rowan Marshall
1-4 without.

I thought the team had moved past Roarke.

Hoping Sweet puts in a good showing
Roarke was a huge part in us holding an advantage at QT. 5 tackles and a great goal saving smother. He also had an impact last quarter. It’s a team game and not all about getting 20 or 30+. Scott has yet to have and flash stats but will be lining up for his 10th in a row. Guys playing their role are what got the Tiges 3 flags and what has us sitting 8-1. Give the guys selected a fair go.

Shame no English but Sweet will learn heaps V Ryder who is a great tap ruck. It can only bode us well in the long term

That's just one small part of it. Another far more crucial component was Dustin Martin going to the next level and becoming one of the greatest ever players.

Every team has their role players, but just about every successful team's role players were better than Roarke Smith in every way. Smith has been tried in just about every role at AFL level, and has only ever been average at best, horrible at worst. He continues to get selected because he's a personal favourite of the coach.

It's not the protocol. You can play on the 12th day. Another club has done it already. We're just being cautious.

Beveridge specifically said in his press conference about JUH that the game falls on the 12th day so he can’t play VFL this week. I don’t think it’s being cautious with JUH, seems the club is just strictly abiding by the protocol

It's not like a the awful Picken situation where he never managed to undertake full training following his concussion.

after what happened to picko I’m actually proud of the club for taking a super conservative approach with big tim

playing the long game and looking after player welfare is a win win imo

Surely fans realise that named positions mean close to nothing? It’s a bit of a chuckle.
I don't remember the last time I even looked at the team line up. Going years and years back. I see the outs, and then I know who's in the team. It's not like we don't know what position the players play. And if they're playing a new tactical role for a certain opponent, of course the club wouldn't want to publish that.

I’m flying down from the Gold Coast tomorrow (unfortunately for a wedding and not the game). Got some time to kill tomorrow before driving out to Daylesford. Would the boys likely have a light run around tomorrow at whitten? Wouldn’t mind swinging by for a coffee if so. Any info appreciated cheers

Will be interesting to see how caleb handles the geary tag this tim round and if he does get the better of him what the plan b will be.
I think we are a very different team this time around. I’m not sure tagging Daniel would be quite as beneficial for them. Interesting one though.

Possibly a Captain's run around 10am. This is just a guess based on the few times I've been to one.

Well another club queried with the AFL and was approved. Can't remember which one, but it definitely happened.

Luckily we also have Dale and Duryea who is in a good run of form unlike last year.

The only honest way to announce teams is to give a straight list of 22 names plus emergencies.

We are still living with a 1960s approach to positional team announcements when they actually intended teams to line up that way. Everyone knows they are now meaningless and yet we all play along with that deceit.

Bravo Bevo!

At the time Caleb was in red hot AA form & was our most damaging player, Bont aside. He’s had a few quiet games this year and we’ve won anyway. He’s been tagged again and seems to be working his way through it. I’d love it if they put Geary on him to see how he handles it. He’s too clever to fall for the same trick twice.

Bev’s response to the affair has been the master stroke of Dale thrown back, and Williams has gone to the next level. Caleb hasn’t got the weight of responsibility on his shoulders of moving the ball out of the backline and he’s freeing up.
