Still waiting for Bauer to clunk 1

Reckon he’s 0 from 10 attempts at getting 2 hands to it

Got potential, hope it clicks
reckon hes a victim of the 'just make a contest' message, no dont just make a contest, ****ing mark the ball campaigner

Would have preferred the scoreline be a bit closer, but it does reflect where we are as a developing side.

Nank was superb. Broad and Vlastuin are playing their role supporting Brown and Trainor. Out of all the first rounders, Trainor will be the best value. There's our future Rance and Astbury. Once Gibcus is healthy and in form we have a 10 year defensive wall. Taranto and Hopper can only do so much before fatigue set in and the clangers started. No support from Dow or Ross. It is a good place to be when you look forward to Lalor coming back into the side as he will make a difference.

Kids will always get a pass from me as they are the only option. But the players like Green, Banks, Campbell, Tresize need consistency before taking the next step. Short has a ton of possessions, but he is not the half back weapon he was in the Premiership years. Macca started well but faded. Sonsie is not AFL standard. Rioli and Hugo played their role and will get better with time. Blight was played out of position and should have been matched up on Tracy after his third goal in the first quarter. Miller was putrid. Won't get a game when Gibcus returns, and I prefer Young anyway. Need to fix the ruck situation as I can't see Nank going full pelt all year.

Umpiring was putrid, and freo's 6 goal run had one legit goal that was not the result of a dodgy free, or a non free to us. I don't care about the scoreboard, but we are still given a bad run from the Umps.

Take the "circus" of next week out of the news early and pick Balta on Monday.

Out - Miller, Sonsie, Tresize
In - Balta, Lalor, Smillie

We've had about 15 worse losses than this when we were playing finals let alone in year one of a rebuild. Judging by some of the melting I think people need to wake up realise where we are at.

Yes Hopper and Taranto aren't clean but look what happened to the Eagles yesterday when they went all young. Lowest contested possession count in history. That's not helping anyone. These two are battering rams and allow us to rotate some other guys through without smashing them. Anyone can see they're not part of our future but unfortunately it's all we've got right now until the Lalors, Smillies and whoever else are ready to shoulder the load. That's how rebuilds work - you're shit until you're not.

Having said that, I would like us to change up the mix there more often in games. Give Rioli a go or throw a Steely or Campbell in there for a bit of pace. Bolton was our best centre bounce player and he would've been our lightest player on the list almost. We're too flat footed in there a lot of the time.

A few positives from me:
  • Brown with 24 touches and thwarted multiple attacks. Getting his hands on it a lot more now and makes good decisions although made a couple of errors today.
  • Trainor looks a natural. And tough. Think his kicking will grow as we become better. He's probably trying to pull off a bit much at times but to me that's a sign of great confidence.
  • Hugo nice return.
  • Miller actually fought back well against Treacy. He was probably genuinely beaten in about 3 contests. He beat him in a few himself. A couple of Treacy's goals came from zero upfield pressure or a turnover and Hopper gave away a high free on one. I think he does give too much room sometimes though.
  • A few bemoaning the lack of effort makes me wonder if we're watching the same game. You can clearly see the effort is there right up until the bell but we're regularly outclassed and today in particular were out of gas.

Ugly:
  • Short. Too many errors today.
  • I've been saying give Sonsie a run in the middle but it's not worth it. Too many weak efforts today. I don't think he'll make it.
  • Ross is too up and down. I don't think his role suits him though.
  • Tresize. Just don't see it. Fumbles too much and a meh kick.
  • The *ing umpiring. I don't normally whinge but * me. The Rioli trip was diabolical.
  • All the forwards had shockers really but tough to do much with the supply.
Please refrain from making sensible well thought our posts until at least 2 hours post game as to not interfere with the vents

Completely outclassed through the midfield. Our mids too slow and not smart enough to work out defensive positioning and offensive spread. Kick/mark ball movement too slow and safe, and tackling hardly existent. To make matters worse is we get soundly beaten in CP's and clearance (the thing we're supposed to be good at) and this is with a mostly experienced midfield.
Forwards no chance with messy slow delivery and backs same with clean ball coming the other way.
More convinced this slow methodical kick/mark game is not going to be beneficial for the cubs development with our skill set.

Great post

How long have north been rebuilding
The melts here are hilarious

Yes,we have plenty of players to replace … can’t do it in 35 seconds
But I guess that’s the way of the new world …. and how young people think …instant gratification 🤦🏻‍♂️
