The guy is pretty soft...has shown it time and time again at Adelaide in big, tough games.
I'm pretty surprised GC went after him with a pretty decent contract, thought might be able to play someone better in that wing position.

Hopefully, as a big difference between pick 21ish & 39ish.
Yeah looks a bit lengthy, we have a few ex Adelaide assistant coaches (Francou and Kessler) on our coaching panel this year, so they must see him as someone that can fill a role on that wing.
We are pretty well stocked with inside players and need some heavily outside players where they must think Atkins can do that.
Hopefully he can hit the ground running like Greenwood did for us this year.

4 years for this guy is pretty poor list management by gcs. The money is low and will be even lower in 3/4 yrs time but he will clog the list.

2nd round pick comp equal to Brandon Ellis who is a far superior player and received far more money on his contract offer.

Hawthorn got the same pick for Buddy Franklin (on the biggest deal the AFL had ever seen) as Geelong got for Steven Motlop!
