Round 1, 22 changes

Charlie Dixon had 3 or less marks in 12 out of his 18 games and kicked 0 goals in 6 out of his 18 games in 2016. All while spending next to no time in the ruck. I suppose he's not a forward either?

Four of those goalless games were consecutively the last four games of his season when every man and his dog on the Port board could see that he was clearly injured and shouldn’t have been playing. He wasn’t a footballer at that stage, let alone a forward. His 2017 stats which you conveniently left out are 4 from 23 games under 3 marks and 1 from 23 goalless games.

But pretending like he was a train wreck when forward (he wasn't)

Lol ‘pretending’. Someone having a different (and unless you watched Port play every week last year like I did, far more informed) opinion than you doesn’t mean they’re pretending.

Let’s break it down even further. Trengove only kicked multiple goals four times last year. Three of those times were against bottom 4 teams. In games not against bottom 4 teams, he kicked 9 goals in 15 games (to be fair you could say 14 games, as he played in defence against the Crows in Round 20). If that’s not your definition of a train wreck forward then I’d hate to see what is.

and wasn't one of your best defenders and that his absence wasn't a key reason your side flamed out in a home final last year while the stiff corpse of Drew Petrie took a dump on your KPPs is disingenuous.

He arguably could’ve been useful in the Elimination Final, but that’s not because he was in our best 22, it’s because Jonas was suspended and Hombsch was injured.

Just because Trengove was shit last year up forward doesn't mean it will always be so.
We used to have a player called Liam Jones that was beyond shit when we played him CHB in a few games because he wasn't touching the ball up forward. He was so bad, it was filed into the 'never again' folder and he was sent back to the forward line where he at least showed glimpses of potential.
Fast forward a few years and he's Carlton's first choice CHB. Who would've thought....

Your coach screwed up by not picking Trengove in a final and you lost to a very ordinary side at home in part because of it. And because Charlie Dixon choked repeatedly.

Coming here and pretending Trengove is a crap footballer and shouldn’t have been in your team every week last year isn’t going to change that.

Good thing I never called him a crap footballer then.

Good call - getting nervous about the pick swap.

Blues got Charlie Curnow, We picked up Dunks (happy) and Collins (????????)
Not that nervous about it. Carlton may come out in front and good on them if they do. Going into that draft I would have been happy with Collins at 11. Dunkley was a bonus (although I wasn’t a fan, still have my doubts)

Regardless, Dunkley is now a premiership player. A natural forward like Curnow would be bloody handy right about now. But if we get another injury down back then Collins will seem pretty handy.

Schache picken Won't play

Dickson maybe
Roberts prob will get the nod
Not sure about Boyd

I just heard this from a source

Handy at what? I'm not convinced.

Bit off-topic, but how good was this backline:

FB: Morris Lake Hargrave
HB: Gilbee Williams Murphy
Three static defenders, three re-bounders good balance.
Williams lacked continuity and would have loved too see
Hargrave as a tall wing man. Loved Leon Cameron and
Montgomery back even Curley was under rated.

I get the feeling Jong is a lock. Bev loves him.

That would have been an awesome backline but I don't reckon the stars ever aligned for it to actually exist. Murphy was playing forward or had a bung knee most of the time and Williams was always injured. Hence their roles being covered by Harbrow, Tom Callan :flushed:, and Cameron Wight :flushed::flushed::flushed: in prelims.

I'm with you Fronk - though my gut says Daniel won't play. Based on Bevs comment in the presser today '... one or two boys who may have been a staple in the team who may miss out.' I hope I'm wrong.

Where do we see Mitch Wallis playing this year? Back in the guts or playing that HFF role like last year where he was pretty ineffective...
