Essendon and North go head to head in what is essentially a dead rubber as far as finals are concerned. Essendon have been in some very good form recently, winning 5 of their last 7 games including beating a couple of top 4 opponents whilst North have only won 1 game from round 5 onwards against bottom of the ladder Preston Bullants. The two sides have met 4 times in the VFL with Essendon winning three of them.

Essendon fought back after a slow start to beat Southport, who are second on the ladder, in a see-sawing contest that saw the Bombers win by a nerve wracking 2 points. Nick Bryan was probably Essendon's best player with 44 hitouts, 6 marks and 14 disposals in a show of domintating the airways, whilst key forward James Stewart pressed for a recall into the AFL side with 4 goals, Massimo D'Ambrosio the leading possession winner with 20 disposals across half forward.

North's last start was a very close loss to Richmond, going down by 2 points at Punt Road Oval. Former AFL player Kade Answerth was North's best in front of the sticks with 2 goals, whilst Marty Hore and Dom Tyson were prolific with 31 and 25 disposals respectively, Tyson also kicking a goal against the Tigers.

I think that with the form we're in, we should win this. Essendon by 27, possible side:

FB: Aaron Francis - Cian McBride - Josh Eyre
HB: Tom Cutler - Cody Brand - Alastair Lord
MF: Brayden Ham - Alec Waterman - Garrett McDonagh
HF: Massimo D'Ambrosio - Patrick Voss - Tom Hird
FF: Michael Hurley - James Stewart - Kaine Baldwin
OB: Nick Bryan - Archie Perkins - Stefan Rasinac
IC: Brad Bernacki - Joe Atley - Billy Cootee - Joel Fitzgerald
23P: Alex Hird

We have a big size advantage up forward with Voss, Hurley and Baldwin all bigger than McGuinness at 191 cm. They do have Comben, Edwards and Monkhorst as their forward/rucks though, so expect Eyre and Brand probably play on guys like Answerth and Ford with Reid and McBride on Comben and the resting ruck respectively. Not sure why Waterman isn't playing unless Menzie/Bryan/Perkins pull out as sub.
