Don't think Whitecross is the right player for the sub position anyway. Shouldn't it be more of a burst player that we use in this position? Line breaking specialist whose extra run can be used to best effect?

Still queries over Sewell and Hodge, let's not get too upset about Whitecross just yet. If Hodge does get up, someone had to make way, personally I'd probably prefer Osborne but it's not like Whitecross is from left field, and less changes the better at this stage, there is no form line.

His and a few others - Bruce for example was deplorable and Hale, Franklin and Mitchell had some serious clangers between them. He came into the game for one quarter - others had been given three quarters to get there game up and running and for some to no avail so I don't think checking his efficiency is enough to justify non selection personally.

true, you forgot Renouf as well CP...terrible terrible turn-overs

I think you are right HP, this is why I thought Smith would be a handy sub

I THINK THE SUB IS A LOAD OF s**t ANYWAY

I like the side to be honest. Put Ossie as the Sub, leave the rest as is. Nice to see Shiels, Savage and Suckling all still in. WhiteX stiff, but wasn't impressive last week for mine. Hopefully he can tear it up at Boxhill and get himself back in their. Getting some nice depth. Beauty is, if the guys below keep performing, guys like Osbourne, Ladson etc will have to perform or be dropped.

too slow for mine...needed Pup and Smith for more run and carry...to me it is the same ol same ol

Kipster, I agree. Had lunch with the ol' man during the week and this very topic came up. He thought that we missed the pace, along with the run and carry from deep in the back line through to the wing and into the forward line. These two players were recruited for that very purpose. and it must be said to address a big weakness in our side.

Totally agree with you. One of them, surely, has to be in the side.

I'm pleasantly suprised as i thought clarko would be keen to get his favourites straight into the team. Suckers and Shiels both looked good imo last week and deserve at least half a dozen games to show what they got. Our youngsters looked good pre season and we have to show them some faith.

Whether you're a Whitecross fan or not it's hard to play him again this week after limited playing time last week.

Osbourne extremely lucky. The next few weeks should be used to sort our which of the following players still deserve a spot: Osbourne, Lewis, Ellis, Guerra, Batemen and Ladson. Those who continue to perform poorly should be replaced by any of Cheney, Pup, Smith or whomever form warrants. We have better depth this year than the last couple of seasons and almost a clean bill of health. Spots need to go to players performing up to AFL standard and not living on old form.

Seeing we allegedly ran out of legs, it seems strange to dump WhiteX as he should at least be fresh.

I hope we make Changa the tagger and let Lewis and Shiels run free.

I also agree with your old man. What on earth are the selectors doing!!!

After watching tonight's match, the old saying "no such thing as an easy match" has never been truer.

I think back to last year's 2nd match v the Dees and it was a real struggle. Rain and a Davey injury really helped with Buddy and Hodge dragging us over the line.

Just sense a final quarter like tonight with the Hawks clinging onto a small lead with a fast finishing Demons team coming hard.

We are at a junction - move the ball quickly by foot or run it w pace.'

Should be getting games into Smith.

Not sure why Whitey was dropped.

I feel Suckling only gets a go due his good disposal by foot, and I reckon Guerra is a better kick than him.

Whitey very stiff, Suckers lucky.

Osborne lucky as well. If he doesn't do more on Sunday, Isaac should line up on HF against the Tiges.

Bring on Smith and Pup.

Just a theory. Osborne is the sub, Rioli starts forward. Osborne subbed on, Rioli to the midfield in the last QTR.

I can't see who else could be the sub. Suckling provides no impact, he'd just slot in a BP. Shiels deserves a starting 21. Lewis is too good for a sub. Osborne looks like the one to get it don't you think?

Sewell could still be a late withdrawal from the side, they are giving him the last minute to make sure he is right. How suckling has kept his spot after some horrible errors last week is puzzaling , Goo must still needs some miles in the legs surely, he is one of our most important players.

What were Suckling's horrible error's last Saturday night??

Seems we are still sticking to the belief that you can break the zone through quick ball movement rather than with pace.

It will be interesting how this plays out over the season as the blokes being picked at the moment up back are the good ball users rather than speedsters. It looked like preseason that Buddy would be roaming the midfield to address our speed issues but this didnt happen last week.

I reckon the horse has already bolted and that you pretty much need as much pace in the side as possible to be strong offensively.

Goo commits that same 2-3 horrible errors every week.
