Autopsy Round 21, 2021: Hawthorn smack Pies

Great performance, but feel we didn’t learn much more about our list today. Given the potential consequences of a win today, it would’ve been great to see a youthful side. Would have been great to see a team with some composition of the following names: Brockman (not as a sub), Morris, Reeves, Greaves, DGB, Downie, Jeka, Callow, Magginness or Newcombe.

Nash and Bramble (players we havent had as much exposure to) were good and gained an insight into their ability going forward. However the guys that dominated and ultimately got us the win were established stars which we already know what they can bring.

Heard Clarko make the comparison during the week to late 2006 re: meaningless wins in the final weeks. The difference is we had youth in Franklin, Roughead, Lewis, Birchall etc. playing during those games. Would’ve liked to see the same level of youth playing KEY roles in our side if we are to chalk up seemingly meaningless wins that hampers our draft position (ala 2019).

11 goal kickers, gotta love that stat!

Hopeful for the future, once again not perfect, but things are clicking especially in the midfield. The team doesn't have a full four quarter tank in it, but good signs we'll get there.

Are we seeing a little bit of Mitchell's coaching and Clarko's coaching in the current game plan? We just seem to be playing a lot better, even with all the outs we currently have.

Really? Not a single player in our best would have been over 28.

The game had the intensity you'd expect from two bottom 4 sides with three weeks to go, but positive signs from developing players:
- Bramble, Scrimshaw, Moore excellent
- Nash continuing to show good signs in the middle.
- Kosi kicked 3 despite not having a great day. That's promising

Mitchell clear BOG. He just loves the Pies.

Robert Harvey won't be getting the Collingwood job.

I see the continuation of our tradition of late wins dropping our first round pick.

At least the draft runs deep, and our youth are showing a lot.
Well, the last two years of us winning games late and screwing our draft has handed us Day and DGB.......so....lets screw away!

Fun game, good win, plenty to like.

Bramble is a serious steal. Moore is a jet. Scrimshaw continues to grow, and would be as good a kick as anyone in the AFL. Nash has arrived. Kosi gives everything.

Mitchell was outrageously good today. Brilliant.

I wonder if this late season form makes us an attractive option for Cerra? Or a FA in Billings or Kelly. Something I didn't think possible two weeks ago.

We will have 3 picks inside the top 25 regardless of results. Great draft position. Player development isn’t always achieved at AFL level.

‘so the problem is the depth is better than 2006?

Really good question.
Tough one to answer.

Has to be Moore, hate to take marks off someone for getting injured but Moorey has been one of the best performed small forwards in the comp all year and he was close to delisting last year.
