It was always going to be difficult beating Adelaide on their home deck. I think we proved we're a good side because that game came down to singular moments. Unfortunately, I don't think we're a great side yet especially interstate.
Starting with the bad. That second quarter capitulation was terrible. The four talls didn't work at all and seemed to actively impede each other. A handful of players in the last quarter had moments they would like back that probably defined the game.
But there was a lot of good. Our pressure was very high for most of the game. TB-Battle-Sicily were immense (only one of Thilthorpe's goals was direct). Our midfield looked dominant in patches despite Newcombe not firing. I thought our small forwards had a lot of defensive intent and were too unselfish at times.
One straight Massimo kick and who knows where the result ends up.
We failed the first test but I think we showed enough that we are a chance against Collingwood and Brisbane. Destiny still in our hands.
