2nds SANFL FINALS QUALFICATION

UPDATED AS SANFL TOP UPS ONLY HAVE TO HAVE PLAYED ONE GAME.

Thought it might be a good idea to start a thread for our SANFL side. Since they are the only ones looking at finals.

Current criteria if it hasn't changed is

Top Players must play 1 GAME
AFL listed must play more SANFL than AFL and 3 games after June 30.

So I have currently 13 top ups qualified. This includes Freeman.

Great work!

I touched on this in another thread. We are not winning the SANFL flag even if we have no injuries. We might struggle to have 21 players eligible .

Lots of top ups I expect.

Not gonna have many players qualify especially if we start rotating more younger players they the afl team for the rest of the season.

The rules are carefully constructed to make sure Adelaide can’t field a competitive team in the finals

It’s too late to qualify Crouch or Murphy. Even if they play no more AFL and all 7 remaining SANFL games, they will not meet the more SANFL than AFL benchmark.

Similar story for Rowe, Hinge, Sholl and Brown. Berry and McAdam will join the list next week.

If this is the case, I gotta say I'm surprised. I thought the club would have zero interest in winning an SANFL flag.

That would only be embarrassing for the SANFL not the club.
The embarrassing thing for the club would be not playing some of our future in the afl earlier.
But the rules are ridiculous, especially the after June 30 bit.

The SANFL salary cap is 200k? How much would the projected AFC finals team be on? Full time professional footballers.

You can't see how that might be a tad embarrassing?

Helping the younger guys by winning the SANFL flag? They will get more out of being exposed to the speed of AFL in the remaining games is my view.

Needs to be carefully balanced, but don't hate a few blokes being given the chance to play SANFL finals ahead of some futile AFL games.

Looking back I tend to think those early SANFL finals blokes like Tex and Gunston played were of significant assistance to them.

Currently 21 players qualified. Davis to qualify if he plays SANFL this week. Crouch will have to play the remaing matches in SANFL to qualify. Himmelberg needs 4 more SANFl games to qualify. Milera and Murray would need to play 3 more games in SANFL. I am assuming all of Pedlar, Davis, Frampton and Gollant will qualify.

Possible Team 13 AND 9 Spread of AFL to top ups.
