Can't believe it, round 17, and we are throwing up whether or not Collica will be getting selected for his first game of the season.

Yeah, and if he doesn't crack the top side this year, does that mean he gets delisted at season's end?

i threw this one up about a month ago and most people didn't think he would. I don't think he will, but if he isn't even in our strongest 22, he'll be 27 next year, so thats pretty old to have someone who not even playing.

I don't believe he's not good enough to be in the time, but if he's not playing, we might as well have someone whos 10 years younger that can be developed, because at 27 there's not much more improvement you can do to your game.

and if you look at our list theres not much we can do in terms of delistings.

we had 44 guys at the start of the year, matera, mcintosh, sierakowski will retire, while nicoski looks like he'll be elevated, and possibly beeck.

so theres gotta be some delistings somewhere, and aside from Collica, the other guys who aren't getting a game are all under 22 or there abouts and can still be developed into good footballers.

Gardiner obviously wont play and I doubt Jones or Carroll will come up after their concussions, which both looked pretty bad. McIntosh would be an obvious inclusion for Carroll. Seaby will have to be looked at to come in for Gardiner.

A lot of guys could have a stake on Jones' spot. Not sure if a few players will be dropped either. Might see Adkins dropped, Wooden probably did enough to stay in the side, Doogs, Hunter and Haynes didnt get much of it. But you would think those 3 are relatively safe.

Hunter shouldnt get dropped, he did a better job on tredrea then most people expected him to, even the coach.

Yeah I read that Whoosha praised Hunter endeavour so he is safe. Chick will come in for Jones, forgot about him in my previous post. So....

IN - Chick, Milli, Seaby
OUT - Gardy, Jones, Carroll

Perhaps Adkins to be dropped form wise and bring in Chambers, Collica, Read??

i'll wait to see the injury list, but at the moment i'd say:

Out: Gardiner, Jones, Carroll
In: Chick, McIntosh, Seaby/Staker

and perhaps:

Out: Adkins
In: Seaby/Staker/Collica/Read/Chambers

something like that, but we'll wait to see how our guys pull up.

I hope Chick comes in and lays a massive hip and shoulder on some ****er - show that we're serious about playing hard footy.

Munro, chambers( if he dosent get a game soon), that opens up 5 places on the senior list. We promote Nicoski and beeck and that leaves us with 3 selections at the national draft.

that's quite harsh delisting munro and chambers.

both are still under 23, and munro has been playing allright from limited chance this year - I gave him big raps last year, and he has been slightly dissapointing this year, but put him on the weights and i'd back him to become a very handy small forward and pinchitting midfielder.

Chambers was one of our most imporved players in 2002, so god knows what he's done wrong in 2003, so i'd back him not to get deslited, cause he would still be therabouts.

I no its harsh and I dont think ethier deserved to be delisted but someone has to and I cant really think of anyone else the only other people I can think of are Wooden, lynch, wilson and Humm

Nicoski will get elevated, he has huge potential for us. There's a few guys in trouble. Chambers has ****ed someone off, and I'd say is gone. Kane Munro is to small for AFL footy. They've tried to bulk him up - gone. Hansen has been overtaken by Johnson and Staker - gone. Lynch isn't safe either. McIntosh, Seirakowski, Wilson, and Matera will retire.

Collica, Read and Morrison will get one more year to prove themselves, and they'll all make it.

We'll do some trades too. I can see players like Wooden, Braun, Haynes and Humm being offered about - it will be interesting to see if there are any bites.

So by my calculations (assuming no trades) we will lose 5, elevate at least one rookie, and give ourselves plenty of room to draft.

BTW, I'd still like to know who Chambers has ****ed off!!!!

Also remember Wilson will most probaly retire, or if not be delisted.....

that means Siera, Milli, Roo and Willo all gone and Nicoski elevated, and three draft selctions is ok.

we may not have to do any "harsh" delisting after all.

by the end of 2004, we'll get an idea on the likes of Hansen, Selwood etc,. and to their futures in the club. If Hansen was delisted this year i'd consider it to be quite a pity. If he had done nothing next year, and was delisted i'd consider it fair - same goes for Chambers, Munro and Lynch IMO.

I also believe in the philosophy that in 99% of cases, no player should be delisted without having played at least 3 games.

The only time it doesn't apply:
1 - they are so badly outclassed in the reserves level it would be a waste of time or
2 - they have broken club rules (in the same way as Angwin did).

but aside from that ,even if a guy is **** at the WAFL level, you never know what they will do when they're put in the big time. Good player tend to step up with the level, and those guys sometimes slip through the fingers because they didn't stand out at lower levels.

Why not?

He obviously hasn't done enough to get selected when we are looking for a FF. He'd be behing Gaspar, McDougall, Staker and Johnson as young KPP's go, why would we keep him?

I'm not against the guy at all, but if we want to draft new players and improve our list, we have to look at all options.

Even if his WAFL form doesnt warrant it, you should always want to see them in an AFL game just to see if they can cut it. They might be one of those players that plays well at AFL level but struggles at WAFL level. Collica springs to mind.

Honestly, what does Hansen add to that team?
