Maybe he's like Tippett and remember he has family in either Sydney or Melbourne so they are home to him also!
I don't believe Tippett ever said he was homesick before coming to Sydney. He did well before he went to the Swans then a few years later when his next contract was running out everyone assumed it would be homesickness but none of this was confirmed. A lot can happen in 3-4 years

GCS need senior players who will improve their list. They have become a nursery for other clubs. Lots of early picks doesn't help you when your losing young players every year, senior players are coming to stay.

The Weller trade last year was abominable, the Lloyd etc trade is a 'good practice' protocol if it ever happens.

GCS
Lloyd - locked in best 22 in every club
Newman - 18-25 player
Pick 14-18 - First rounder
(Possibly some other players)

Swans
Early pick & Pick 30 or Pick 38

The Tom Lynch (compo pick/s or trade) adds another layer.

At the moment GCS (after R14) and (GCS ending up 17 or 18th) have

2, 16, 20, 25, 30, 38, 42

A bold strategy but good for both clubs.
Sounds good to me, lets make it happen! :p

Surely there are some mids out there we're looking at... doesn't have to be quick or clean just be a hard nut. We desperately need someone who can just go in and win the thing

I'm interested to see how Newman goes for us and Lonergan goes for GCS this weekend. For some reason I've got my heart set on a straight swap at the end of the season.

Besides, i think you can use the word "homesickness" to mean "i hate living in Adelaide and i'd rather be ANYWHERE else".

Not really an inside midfielder, which is really what we need. For the first time in the Longmire era we officially have more outside mids than inside mids. There's no grunt besides JPK and Parker
Are there any midfielders that would fit that profile that we could target or would it be better we draft one in this supposed 'super draft' ?

Going to the draft wouldn't accomplish much. We need someone ready to make an impact in 2019 (and Dawson does not count as he is still completely unproven at senior level)

We were into CEY a couple of years ago if I recall correctly. Perhaps we could revisit that
CEY is nothing special, far from it, he's dross, check out the Crows board opinions, I'd be mortified if we traded him in.

We want someone with toughness and explosiveness out of the middle, Jones should be used there and just find another half back runner.

Was being used in the middle until Mills went down and was shifted back out of necessity

We don't need explosiveness. There are plenty of types who can break a line and make plays happen for us. What we need is another Kennedy type. Get first hands to the ball, even if it's scrappy and ugly. Don't need skill or pace just a willingness to put the head over the ball. For once we actually have the class on the outside to be able to afford having a plodder type to work in tight.

So Tom Mitchell then

We have no class

CEY is fairly average though surely we can either draft one or just get a cheap VFL one through a rookie draft.

Yes a Mitchell type.

We have plenty of class on the outside they just aren't getting anywhere near the amount of loose balls we'd want them to be getting because our midfield is just getting smashed week in week out. We need someone other than JPK who can win that first possession and get it out to the Florent, Heeney, Cunningham types and that someone will not be Newman or Robinson, both of whom we've tried and failed as inside mids.
