I wouldn't trade Mills but Longmire needs to play him in the midfield rather than as a defender.

Depends what the offer is imo,

People seem to rate him highly in Victoria, But it would have to be a great knock your socks off deal

Aliir better be retained

Well presume if he had told the club to F off they would let him languish in the reserves so it’s a good sign

Draft or get players that are good by foot please

]
Seem to be hard to find mind you , skills seem to be down in juniors these days

Need footballers who make smart decisions and play in a team structure though and then play in their limitations skill wise

Clarkson went for ball use and players that were good runners

Run into space , chip chip etc all the way from defence to the leading forward

That wouldn’t care how long it took to score

I would do something like this. * next to those players that cannot be forced (ie. have a contract)
This is very harsh on some players, but I don't feel they will be a part of the next premiership team.
(note: this has almost no chance of happening)

Retire (or trade to another destination that may extend their careers should they choose)
Kurt Tippett (already gone)
Jarrad McVeigh
Heath Grundy
Kieran Jack*

**Retain or Retire (not going to be part of next premiership but am partial to being retained)
Nick Smith

Delist / Trade (Keep one from this group, I'd go with Robinson on a one year deal)
Nic Newman
James Rose
Jordan Foote
Daniel Robinson (possible retain)

Consider Trading (if advantageous)
Jake Lloyd
Gary Rohan

Promote from Rookie List
Ben Ronke
Robbie Fox
Alex Johnson (if keeps up current trajectory)

Retain on Rookie List
Joel Amartey (already signed)
James Bell
Angus Styles (if he keeps his current form trajectory, otherwise delist)

Delist from Rookie List
Jake Brown (I am not convinced he has done enough, has had a chance to step up in lieu of more senior players recently and has been shadowed by a couple of academy kids IMO. Looking at his stats, he hasn't increased them greatly over the several years being in NEAFL despite now being on the Swans actual list)
Toby Pink (unlucky for him, injury has not been kind, just don't think he has shown enough improvement)

That would leave, after rookie promotions, 6-7 spots on the main list and 2-3 rookie spots.

Draft picks currently 14, 32, 34, 76 (I think)

Draft and Trade Strategy
Option 1: Try and trade up the draft to get ahead of our likely Blakey pick. Lloyd could be useful here packaged with our first round pick. Pick up Blakey likely from our existing second round selections
1.1 Then try and trade the fringe types to try and get back into the second or (more likely) third rounds and look closely at the free agents if there are any players that would suit our needs.

Option 2: Trade our first pick and if needed what we get for Lloyd (if traded) to get a quality player for an area of need, probably midfield.
Repeat 1.1

Something like that anyway.

I would have Rampe playing the Lloyd role for what its worth.

This is where my head is at right now anyway. Anyone else want to have a go?

I like that draft strategy - BUT would we need to get guarantees from other clubs ahead of us? I wonder if they would give it? Otherwise we pull the trigger on that only to have to use the pick on Blakey anyway....

I'd def keep Reg reduced terms? (and Robbo for depth). K Collins would be one I'd look to trade in on the cheap as a big defender - he's been unlucky not to get a run at the Dogs.

They also seemed to have players who developed skills over a few years,

Love K Jack, but has he ever tried to practice opposite foot?

No way I'm giving up anything for Brayshaw who is one KO from retirement. Wallis can't kick and is the very last player we need right now - though I love his effort. Pretty hard to find gun mids, isn't it?
Don't think we need out and out guns, Heeney and Parker will be our top guys and just need solid contributors around them.

Won’t get guarantees but I don’t think there will be any rogue bidding. It’s a calculated risk but one worth taking. Worst case we have a points deficit next season, but I think it’s unlikely, particularly if we manage to get any other picks through trade.

In my scenario above, because we will fill three list vacancies via the rookie list, we can have three additional draft picks (points) that we may get for points value. You can only have the amount of draft picks for list space available which we would. So we could trade some picks in that offer additional points if need be (and still promote the rookies at the end of the draft).

(I think that’s right)

If I was the club I would be doing my due diligence on Tom Liberatore. Has had a couple of knee injuries, so I'd be wanting to make sure he passed a medical, but he's a free agent, is 26, and at his best was the number one inside mid in the competition. Personally I've never liked him, but that's probably not relevant to the club's decisions making process. I'd be looking at him ahead of someone like Wallis or Miles.

Seriously question but would it be difficult trying to get players in with the way play and on a slight decline falling off?

I don’t think we are the destination club we once were

Just point to our last 20 years I’d have thought. We will regenerate and go again.

Deer in the headlights that rarely gets the ball. I honestly don’t know why he’s in the team and Towers isn’t.

He has speed, just rarely uses it
