Relevance? They got more than he's worth. They won.

But I don't knock Adelaide for making the deal. It was just 12 months too late.
Wasn't the 2018 2nd round pick that Adelaide got from Carlton traded back for Carlton 1st in 2019?

That could end up being pick #1

I thought this years firsts were swapped to get a kid in last years draft in it's simplest form. I'm happy to be corrected.

That was a monumental **** up on face value.... but we won't know till the end of the year... and just as likely many years after...

All you ever do is accuse everyone who doesn't agree with you of being a troll.

Wrong.

More than happy to engage with those looking for genuine discussion.

Not surprised you haven’t seen that given your motives though.

You know what’s worse than a troll? One who is exactly that but refuses to acknowledge it.

The deal may have been a year late, but it was a good deal for both clubs. He'll come back and play some good footy; he's a pro. We got some good kids to work with. No losers in this deal.

Carlton have won what 0 games this year after winning 2 last year.

Yeah Carlton smashed this trade lol
There's two parts to every trade like this.

There's the actual value of the trade. And in this case Carlton DID smash it. Two first round picks for a near 30 year old on the decline. I'd trade all my 30+ players for that deal!

Then there's what you do with the picks. Early days yet in that Carlton have time to develop etc., but... at this point in time the look is that Carlton wasted the bounty.

Just because you waste the resultant doesn't change the dynamic of the original deal.

Most trades the Crows make are not that great, esp Dangerfield. Pretty much ended up with nobody for him. Miss #32.

You don't get to decide for another person what their motives are. If someone refuses to acknowledge they are a troll it's probably because theu aren't one. They just have a differing opinion. You have shown time and time again you are unwilling to engage in discussion, preferring instead to throw around troll accusations hoping discredit the argument because you had no reply.

I repeat, you don't get to tell another person what their motives are, or their thoughts, opinions or anything else.

You are far closer to the definition of troll than most who you label.

For example, if anyone says Carlton are not a good football team you label them a troll despite them being winless this season and winning 2 games last season. Basically unless someone says Carlton are 2020 flag favourites they are a troll in your books. You are the typical enemy of democracy who does not value discussion and debate but rather try to thrust your own opinion onto the masses and then chastise any who dare disagree. Suffer a tyrant's fate.

Draft picks are only worth what you turn them into.

If Carlton got 2 first round picks for Gibbs but waste those picks then they are worth **** all.

Don’t feed the troll mate, everyone else sees it except his Carlton minions

What?! We got pick 9, which we got Wayne Milera with, who is showing signs of becoming an absolute star.

This is straight out of the Malcolm Blight coaching playbook, drop a good player to put everyone on notice, or hold a press conference before a final and say your ruckman is the most pathetic in the league.

Or walk out of the coaches box and go home 10 minutes into the final quarter, all these things happened in the one season, I wonder who won the flag that year, what is it with Adelaide coaches?

Bryce Gibbs is stuck in a “horrible situation”, according to St Kilda legend Nick Riewoldt, who’s encouraged the forgotten midfielder to seek a trade away from the Crows.

Gibbs has been dropped from Adelaide’s senior side three times this season due to patchy form and defensive attitude.
It comes a year and a half after the Crows gave away Picks 10 and 16 to Carlton for the homesick Gibbs, who played 231 games at Carlton after being taken with Pick 1 in 2006.

But with an imminent senior re-call far from certain, Riewoldt said Gibbs might be better again to look for a new club, even though he’s contracted to the Crows until the end of 2021.

Asked what he’d do if he was in Gibbs’ shoes, Riewoldt told SEN Breakfast: “You get out. You have to

“It’s a horrible situation, but I don’t think it’s going to get any better by hanging around.”

Melbourne great Garry Lyon added: “His manager should be ringing clubs.”

The 30-year-old has played just seven of a possible 13 AFL games for the Crows so far this season.

If Gibbs wanted to continue his footy career in South Australia, Riewoldt said moving to Port Adelaide wouldn’t be the best move.

“I think those roles are going to be taken by the youth,” he said.

It comes just a few weeks after former Saint Leigh Montagna questioned why Gibbs wasn’t playing senior footy despite the Crows almost being at full strength.

“They’ve got everyone else to pick from and I think it’s just a selection squeeze. And Bryce Gibbs is out of favour at the club,” Montagna told Fox Sports News’ AFL Tonight.

“We know he’s come back into the side after not playing any SANFL footy, despite wanting to work on parts of his game. For me it’s pretty obvious that he’s not part of their plans this season.”

He'll be back. Josh Jenkins played rounds 1-4 then rounds 11-13. Don Pyke is happy to rattle the cage because the players show complacency. Adelaide are 8-5 and knocking on the door of the top 4 which is where they should be. 12-10 last year was a big underachievement.

Jenkins:
First four games: 4 goals 4 behinds
SANFL time
Last three games: 9 goals 8 behinds

Gibbs was 4th in the B&F last year and is 30 with two more years on his contract. Adelaide wouldn't get much for him in a trade and he wants to be in Adelaide anyway. Had 29 and 33 touches his last two SANFL games. Would be surprised if he doesn't come back this week or next and play all if not most of the remaining games in the AFL. One of Adelaide's biggest issues is their midfield is full of guys who get a million touches but don't do anything with it. They're a good contested side but the Crouchs and Ellis-Yolmen are below Gibbs in ball use.

lel just shows young Reid overpaid. 2 first rounders for a SANFL 30-yr old mid lel. what a joke!
It'll take another month or two to de-Carlton him. Around a season and a half is the standard time for most former Blues player to drop their old habits. I expect Gibbs (like Betts and many others before him) to finish is career very well.
