The Lakers are twice as close to 2nd last (3.5) as they are to a playoff berth (7.0).

And they need Memphis and Dallas to win at least 4 games while the Lakers lose them all.

Dallas will aim to keep their pick (which is top 5 protected in 2019/2020) from conveying to the Hawks this season so they have no incentive to win and Memphis has begun rebuilding and just aren't good enough nor are they trying to win.

Why is Justin Holiday a regular starter in the NBA (he's started 134 of the past 139 games he's played)? He's a decent defensive player, but he shoots way to much for someone who's not actually a good shooter (.372 FG%, .350 3PT% over the past two seasons), and is almost 30 years old (ergo, there's not some unrealised potential to reach by pumping minutes into him). Just seems like a bit of a waste of time for teams trying to rebuild (Grizzlies, Bulls) to give a guy like him regular minutes, ahead of a young, developing player.

if KAT did his acl that franchise is officially f**ked IMO

wiggins could potentially be the most overpaid player in the league, have never rated teague, and there role players like covington and saric just arent great

they could be bottom 2 in the west next year if he doesnt play next year

He's been with the wrong teams, but as a 3 & D guy he's decent. Not great, but bang for buck he's OK. If we'd signed him for $8 million instead of Solomon Hill for $50 million we'd have been much better off.

Don't think Memphis have many young wings to play ahead of him now anyway. Kyle Anderson and Dillon Brooks are injured, and the other options are Parsons and Bruno Caboclo, the latter of whom has been receiving regular playing time. Somebody has to play the minutes.

would be a very nice rotation piece on most playoff teams

Eh, I just can't get past those poor shooting percentages. For a veteran guy, you'd expect better.

Don't know if it's necessarily that he's a bad shooter, or just has poor shot selection, but someone needs to work with him to change things up a bit, or get him better looks.

He has been on two of the poorer offensive teams in the league, shoots a lot of threes and can't create his own shot. Of course his percentages are going to be low.

His only role on offence is to hit the open jumpshot. Shooting 35% from three - where the majority of his shots come from - indicates that he can do that at a functional level. Put him on the Bucks or the Warriors and his numbers would probably look better, in a Tony Snell kind of way.

What really matters is how the team does when he is on the court. Last year the Bulls were nearly seven points per 100 possessions better off when he was on the court. In some ways that was superfluous on a rebuilding team, but the point is that he has a specific role to play, and in the past he has played that role quite capably. He just needs a better team fit.

With hindsight you’d have to say that everything the Lakers have done in the past 12 months has been to the detriment of the team.

The 4 year Lebron contract taking him through to 37 years old is too much. He has no passion for the team and him shopping around all the younger players during trade period has completely destroyed team chemistry. The Lakers had a good young core before he joined but this season they are disillusioned and likely pissed off with management.

That’s just 1 signing. The trades they’ve made have set them back further. Magic has potentially set this team back years.

4 year contract with LeBron is the only good thing they did. He's probably already paid for himself.

Having LeBron makes a team relevant. LAL needs to be relevant!

Trading D'Angelo was all about dumping the Mozgov contract to open up space to get LeBron and having the additional max spot this summer. While it's never going to be seen as a positive now that D'Angelo is an All-Star, if they were to sign a Kawhi/Thompson type in the off-season then it will also be hard to see it as a negative. However knowing Magic he'll blow the max on Green.
