Knee to the hamstring of Thompson, came up from behind like a cheap dog.

Unsufficient force for any charges to be laid but just weak. The look on his face when Thompson turned around and confronted him was a smug "what's your problem, I don't know what your'e talking about".

Turnip, if you're going to commit a pissweak act, at least front up when you get called on it.

Commentators laughed at the time and said "insufficient force". Disappointing from such a generally admirable player, I thought.

It was very gentle but the principle remains. Cheap snipe.

Shat me with his little golf clap to the umpire after we got a free. Bloke had been doing his best Murali impression for much of the night.

Was about to highlight the same incident...he went straight into the back, gets up and does this little hand sarcastic hand clap to the Umpire in the 3rd Q IIRC around the 20 min mark.

Whats worse is that butter wouldn't melt in its mouth.

Especially when I reckon he revived the Crow Throw for much of the night.

Once upon a time same was said about James Hird.

Sam Mitchell has done that kind of thing before. He, Hodge and Lewis walk a fine line a lot of the time.

He's a great player but he's always got that smug, sarcastic look on his face.

Agree with that was surprised to hear he has a sniping reputation on Friday (maybe I've been living in a burrow) but that act was disappointing from someone I'd considered to be a fair clean player.

I don't mind any of them walking that line. Arguably Boomer, Firrito and Thompson do it too. It's often part and parcel of an aggressive approach to footy. Occasionally, usually when losing, they go over the line.

Was mentioned on the telecast that it is a very reportable action, only the force which he did it at saved him.

Thommo has done as bad in the past (Hall incident anyone) but you expect that stupidity from a younger player not one of Mitchell's age and experience.

Lewis, Hodge, Mitchel, these guys are big and slow and with the latter 2 old. They get frustrated when things don't go there way and walk a fine line in trying to turn the tide with some of their actions.

IMO what Mitchell did (and Lewis and Hodge from time to time) isn't borderline in the aggressive sense; it's borderline in the dirty sense.

I think a few things Mitchell did showed poor leadership and probably reflected the Hawks attitude that Friday night would be a walk in the park for them. As well as the kneeing on Thommo and the clapping the umpire, he also had a huge verbal go at NDS at least once and I think a couple of times.

With the Hill and Sewell injuries Mitchell needed to focus on the job at hand and lead the way for his team. The way he actually carried on was an embarrassment to someone of his standing in the game. I think the Mulgrave Hawks paid us no respect at all and paid the price.

Two weeks in a row senior Hawthorn players having a go at umps onfield.
