Screw the 24-hour rule. I'm now invoking a 4-hour rule :p Let's discuss our next game.

We venture up to the big, open spaces of Cararra to face an in-form Kangaroos outfit. Who knows what game we will bring. It is the type of game that we historically win, but I just don't think we have the forwards to beat the free-flowing, high-scoring Kangaroos.

My changes:

In: Douglas, Vince
Out: Goodwin (injured), Welsh

However, this won't happen. The likely team will be:

In: Douglas
Out: Goodwin (injured)

Presuming Radar isn't fit.

Out: Goodwin, Jericho

In: Massie, Vince/Douglas

My side

FF: Griffin Ricciuto Porplyzia

HF: Knights McGregor Johncock

C: Mattner Thompson Doughty

HB: Van Berlo Bock McLeod

FB: Bassett Rutten Torney

Ruck: Hudson Edwards Shirley

Interchange: Massie, Douglas, Maric, Stevens

Scott Stevens and Jason Torney were very lucky to keep there place in the side but making 5 changes in one week is never good.

In: Massie, Vince

Out: Goodwin (Injured), Jericho (Ommitted and hoefully never returns)

Would like to get Douglas back in the side but putting Vince in with the hope that he can play the crumbing forward role. Not so much looking for goals out of that position but a hell of a lot of pressure, crumbing and attacking.

Having said that I quite liked Stiffy's job in that role today. Looked ok as a forward. Maybe something to persist with.

Really looking forward to this game. You guys play pretty well at Carrara, and i'm hoping for an entertaining battle.

Also, I hope we win, because as an Adelaide-based North Melbourne supporter, it seems every Adelaide fan likes to remind me about 1998 at every oppurtunity they get... :P

Bringing Kris Massie back into the side should allow Graham Johncock to go forward and play that role.

Kris Massie can move back into defence and play as a small defender and move leave Graham Johncock as a forward line crumbing option.

Bernie Vince should look at increasing his fitness levels so he can play as a run with player, IMO he is not a small forward.

Early days, but:

B: McLeod, Rutten, Bassett
HB: Mattner, Bock, Torney
C: Knights, Thompson, Jericho
HF: Welsh, Stevens, Johncock
F: Edwards, McGregor, Ricciuto
R: Hudson, Van Berlo, Shirley
I: Maric, Doughty, Massie, Porplyzia

IN: Maric, Massie
OUT: Griffin, Goodwin

Not only do you have Jericho playing, but starting? :thumbsd:

Should never have been dropped last week IMO & I reckon it has hurt his confidence. eg. Passed off when running into goal outside 50m today, when 2 weeks ago he would have had a shot.

Jericho had a very ordinary game today, but I would give him 1 last chance (given we don't have many other options), but on a wing (rather than up forward), where he has the endurance to play a Burton-like role.

Oh dear. Didn't think you would be one to play the "he was unfairly dropped which hurt his confidence” card. As I said elsewhere, this is his last chance to prove himself as an AFL footballer and in a crunch game with very few options left on the bench he played worse than some of those injured players.

How many chances has he had? Every game has been his last chance IMO and in the biggest game of his career he failed to give his all.

There ARE other options. Hinge has been very solid for Glenelg, Vince was serviceable once again yesterday and Massie is dominating in the SANFL. All are superior options.

So you don't think dropping Jericho last week dented his confidence? IMO, Jericho is a confidence player. Are you suggesting differently?

It is a very important game as a win could put a two game gap between our two sides or draw us even on points if we lose.

I think it is going to come down to our forward 50. If the Crows can congest it up and drop numbers back and make it hard for us to score and keep the target realistic they are in with a good chance of winning. With a lack of key forward options teams have found it effective to congest our forward line.

The Shannon Grant and Brent Harvey match ups will be crucial for us. I can't remember Corey Jones having much success against us in the past (I might be wrong) but those two are the danger men IMO.

Manufacturing a score is our biggest issue at the moment. It is actually handy for us that Gibson is out as he might have been Welsh's match up. Who will get him now? Firrito?

They need to stick with Jericho IMO. One way or the other we need this issue decided by the end of the year.

If Reilly's not ready then Massie for Goodwin.

We looked a little more flexible today with Ken, Bock, and Stevens in the same side. All can go forward and back depending on what's working and what's not.

Sure if Griff needs a rest then Maric might come in - but I also think Hudson is struggling at the moment.

That's something that's debatable Kane. A matter of opinion.

But what's not debatable is how he let's his team-mates down with his soft attack (wrong word for him) on the ball and the man. He was exposed once again and has to go.

My changes would be

Out: Jericho, Goodwin (inj)

Ins: From Massie, Hinge, Vince and Douglas depending on structure.

We are actually down 2 mid-fielders with Reilly and Goodwin out, so the Ins should be mid-fielders to maintain the balance.

I'd narrow it down to Massie and Vince, with Vince getting a run on the ball to see how he copes at this level in that role.

Both players are in top form in the Snaffle at the minute.

And today DIDN'T resolve the issue? What game were you watching?

I'm trying to be diplomatic and definitive........leaving him in the side has nothing to do with his form.

I would have sacked him 3 years ago - but he is still on our list and in the 22.

The deal is - if he is still on our list in 2008, and still on the outer fringe of selection - I'm gonna spew up........so if nothing else - the next 11 rounds need to be used to once and for all decide his future. The Club has wasted too much time on players like this and the list has stagnated as a result.

I find it strange that some are justifying last weeks disappointment be used as an excuse, if it was me I would have been angry and pissed off but I would have found a way of using this as a form of motivation to prove Neil Craig wrong.

I can except that he may have been down on confidence today and had a lot of anxiety and this could quite easily have hindered his ability to get the ball but in no way will I accept that it will have stopped him from doing the little things. They are not attributes awarded to confidence.

By getting his hands on the ball and then missing a shot on goal or allowing the ball to slip though his hands in a marking contest is a valid excuse for not having confidence but you don’t need to have any confidence to hit the ball hard or attack to body of your direct opponent.

Anyone who has played sport at any sort of level would understand the importance of confidence and even the best player can lose confidence (and you can lose it half way though a game) but that should not stop you from doing the 1 % and attacking the ball or the contest. In football he should have chased or tackled, get to the contest to add some body pressure but today Luke Jericho didn’t so any of that.

Even when you are playing badly, you still attack the ball with vigour or smash your opponent into the ground to take out some frustration, but nothing from Luke Jericho.

He's not going to have a heart transplant MD.

Why would he change from the soft player he's always been??

It’s a pipedream people have macca. People must genuinely believe he can flick a switch and start showing some heart when it isn’t going to happen. He hasn’t shown any heart during his 5 years on the list and when he had a great chance to prove the doubters wrong today, he put in an effort reminiscent of the 2006 NAB Cup GF. :thumbsd:
