There was a big crowd at Casey Fields, it was very hard to get a park to be honest. Just when I thought I'd found the dodgiest, most on-the-fly carpark I could, on a bank of tan bark about 10cm from a gum tree... I was proven wrong.

I walked out to my car after the game, and noticed another car parked on the outside of the gum tree, basically sticking straight out into the lane. I tried to remove some of the gum leaves jammed in my window, with my car door open, and as I did this the owner of the vehicle approached. "Sorry, Harry", I said, closing my door.

"Nah, you're right mate", replied the great man.

Seems Harry can be creative even in the car park. :p

Haha very funny... the guy is a legend

did he duck and weave his way out. or was it a straight sprint catch me if you exit:)

Goldsack is also best 22 for mine. In fact, I think he is better than Toovey in shut down and rebound. Very pleased he is putting pressure on spots from underneath. His time will come.

Better in rebound, yes, but not in shutdown, in fact it is still a weakness in Goldsack's game, one on one contested situations.

I've always thought Goldy's best position would either be as a "pure" attacking halfback (think Gilbert, Fisher at StKilda) or as a wingman or half forward.

I've never thought Goldy had the defensive ability that some claim he has, and to this point I believe he has proven me right.

I do believe he is in or at least near our best 22, especially against quick, pacy opponents like Essendon, Freo etc.

I'd love to see Goldy play next week, he would hurt Essendon on the rebound, and make some of their pacy HF's and wingers more accountable.

Dawes has to come in now doesn't he.

There was just this shimmy and he was gone!

Thoughts on the game TRS? will Dawes come in? was Nate good enough to press his claim? Did Simon Buckley look a chance?

MM reckons half a dozen players are pressing, any of them out there today in your reckoning?

Neither actually plays tall, so we don't need to bring anyone in.

Harry/Maxwell/Toovey etc...would all be able to play on them comfortably.

Presti to Hurley, obviously.
I would like to see Toovey on Williams just to lose the training wheels. He always gets the cushy jobs on the oppositions least threatening forward. Doubt it will happen though, IMO Williams would carve him up. Still can't hit the side of a barn with his kicking.

this week harry > rioli
nevt week harry >>>>>>>>>> williams

seems like the logical choice to me.

If l.brown keeps his spot he'll probably play against gumby whilst presti stays back...otherwise i wouldnt mind seeing N.Brown have a crack, had a good game by all reports

toovey vs reimers perhaps ?

The game was pretty scrappy for such good conditions and a great surface. In the last quarter we just forced the ball forward with the breeze and it paid off. They were using a similar zone to what the seniors have used the last two weeks.

Dawes should come in, or he may as well sign for the GC17.
Nate was much better than last week IMHO, but could use another week or two in the VFL.
Simon Buckley was good last week and better this week. I am still cautious in my optimism with him but he's showing quite a bit. If he continues improving at this rate he will soon warrant a senior call-up. Perhaps not this week though.
Reid was good-ish defensively, but better in setting up attack than Brown for mine. He'd be the one to come in if we're bringing in a tall defender.
Wood was okay but needs another run or two in the VFL for fitness. Didn't do enough around the ground for obvious reasons.
Shae was surprisingly good, even after seeing him do some nice things last week. I'm beginning to think he really could be a player.

Gumbleton plays tall. My big worry would be the possibility of Ryder moving forward. I think our current side would be ill-equiped to handle this move. We need another KPB to help cover Hurley/Gumby/Ryder. I'd bring in Reid personally.

Harry might end up on someone like Monfries if he comes back in other wise yeah could be a good match up. I think Goldsack would really suit him too.

Seems our kicking was also terrible today. 10 points in the last quarter

I was listening to Casey Radio over the net after the game, and they interviewed big Shaemus. Shae of course has a very pronounced Yankee drawl, but that didn't dissuade the interviewer from naively asking what part of Ireland Shae hailed from. It caused much mirth among the rest of the commentators when he replied "Ahhh, well I'm from Milwaukee actually, near Chicago". Amatuer hour radio, but it was good listening.

Dawes needs to come in for a few weeks.

Wellingham was never dominant in the 2nds but you could see he had the potential so we brang him into the seniors and is now shitting it in with the better players around him.

Dawes can do this.. Probably wont reach his peak for about 5 years, but he needs to be in the side now.. learning how to play AFL.

lol, heard that as well. Commentator then went on to describe how it's one of the tougher parts of the US, which Shae gave a perfectly seasoned "Yeah, Nah" answer to.
