it'd be pretty pretty silly to go ahead with it. the only thing worth discussing is whether they award the shield to the team on top or treat it as a cancelled season

For whatever it's worth in the current climate, I'm not sure too many people would have a problem with NSW being awarded the Shield being so far ahead.
You're right, it would be dumb to go ahead with it. While plenty of us diehards are invested in the Sheffield Shield, it's too much risk for not enough reward.

It’s not like they have to close the gates to keep the crowds out for the shield cricket
they still have to travel through airports, etc
Which is why they should bring the final to Albury-Wodonga and both teams can catch a bus!

So first off the Sixers player were praying for rain before the BBL final now Cricket NSW says the only smart thing to do is call off the season and give them the title...
Checks memory to see if that was the Redbacksor they should just award the title to the team who won last season.

NSW should win it if there's no final. 85% of the tournament has been played and they're so far ahead it isn't funny
Basically rewarding pre Christmas form, on current form they'd be underdogs in a final.
That'd be like the AFL deciding to call off the season and giving the premiership to the team who was on top in April. A lot of s**t sides fly out of the blocks but fall apart at seasons end.
The Dragons might even win the NRL premiership that way!!!
Besides when the BBL final and T20 Semi Finals were looking like washouts the comments were made you can't change the rules mid season, the winners win the final, if the season is abandoned, no champion.
How else do you do it? They have been the best side over the entire course of the season to date...doesn’t matter when they won..they have won more then anyone else in the comp

Play the last round plus the final at the start of the next season.Then have 20/21 as a 5 game shield season plus say have a final 4 set up for shield finals.A lot of the players would be playing less shield cricket under that arrangement but would be good for their local clubs.
