Put a fair gap between WRFL and SFL and this is pretty spot on.
The problem with the WRFL, is when there is Metro Competitions against other leagues the 40 best players dont play ( No Offence to the team that gets picked ), Deer park clearly had 7 or 8 players that would walk into other inter League sides, but banned their players from taking part

Hasn’t the Southern League improved over recent years.
Probably has tbh but still a little off WRFL imo. Played in the Southern in the Noble Park reign late 80’s early 90’s and it was a pretty good League back then with the likes of them, East Brighton, Balwyn South Districts,Clayton and the likes not to mention pretty physical. Once Noble and Balwyn went to Greener pastures in the Eastern, East Brighton had a brief era of dominance and South went to the ammos it waned. Like a lot of comps have suffered it had a period of being poorly run especially financially. Has rejuvenated itself in recent times to an extent and although imo still a bit off the standard of WRFL it’s current admin could teach the WRFL hierarchy a thing or two. All subjective I suppose unless you are involved week in week out at a club in any comp.

Who did you play for Wolfgang?

VAFA & EFL clear best 2 comps. Then EDFL & NFNL on the next level, both very good comps and ridiculous statement saying NFNL “definitely” better. Daylight to WRFL, then daylight again to SFL

Disagree the EDFL is much better then NFL. The only reason why NFL when interleague was their best players played in it.
EDFL didn’t have their best side once because most of the food players didn’t want to play
Which is indicative of stronger buy-in/less of a mercenary culture..
I'd be curious to see the best possible representative sides on paper, I doubt that either would be considerably stronger than the other particularly as the big ticket recruits that may have ended up in the EDFL in years gone by are ending up elsewhere.

Werribee
Altona
Deer Park
Spotty
St Albans

Caroline Springs
Hoppers
Point Cook
Sunshine
Yarraville

Think St Albans and CS will be the big improvers both look like they've recruited well. Both will be vying for that 5th spot. Hoppers to slide a little. Point Cook have recruited some ex-AFL which will help them IMO. Haven't seen much from Yarraville, Hoppers, Spotty or Sunshine on the recruiting front.
