I cant stand the way the media works itself into a lather over issues like the August meeting between Daniher and Harley.

Who gives a sh*t about whether or not they discussed him moving to Sydney?!

All that matters is he has requested a trade and what now would get a deal done.

Instead we get hour after hour of 'is he lying? what were they discussing? do you believe him? lets talk more about this catch up. We reported their catch up first back in August. Tom Harley claims they didn't discuss a move ... do you believe him ... '

Seriously, who the f**k cares?!

I actually got the feeling listening this morning to Harley that we havent really pursued Daniher at all, and its mostly being pushed by Daniher himself.

I felt like he didn't want to throw Daniher under the bus by saying 'Joe came to us' when he was being questioned about it.

Jones has declared.

"Closer to family".

I think Harley also mentioned that it was hard work negotiating his last contract and that it wasn't entirely unexpected that he would request a trade. IIRC there were murmurs that jones was thinking of a potential move to melb during his last contract negotiation, upon re-signing ppl thought it was just a beat up but in hindsight there was some truth to the talk.

If I recall correctly, you, me and one other poster were yelling out for us to draft Worpel at the time. I didn't have any inside knowledge on any negatives that the club may have had, but the fact that he was probably the no.1 draft pick 12 months earlier and that his stats had been so good in the year leading up to the draft should have made him an obvious first round pick IMO.
I had no inside info but did see him play live...a lot! The reason I questioned the doubts on his kicking was because I didn’t think he butchered it, just not polished under pressure. Gun!

Jones had a contract infront of him the whole season so we clearly wanted him to stay.

i think daniher is leaving next year no way he stays now

so they risk having a disgruntled player we all know doesnt want to be there hanging around the already pathetic club in 2020

trade will happen

If trade window ends with no trade bombers would be pretty depressed. Could we reopen talk in this new pre-season trade period?

People get too wound up.
The AFL has sucked everyone in by making something that should be done inside a day or two at most drag out to over a week.
The radio stations and papers need something to talk/write about so just fill their shows with crap that sucks us all in every time.
Say what you want about Dodoro (I don’t rate him) but he will be working with Sydney and all this external noise is just that. Media people like Lloyd have about as much influence on this trade as you or I do.
A deal will get done that appeases both parties, it’s only day 1.
Imagine if the Daniher and Kelly deals got done on day 1, what would the AFL media have to talk about for the next week [emoji23]

All this BS on SEN today about Essendon wanting to be cautious with Daniher and not wanting to extend him. Talk about injury worries and all the risk associated with him yet 2 first rounders still seems fair.

Scully and all others went cheap yet the consensus is Daniher is worth a ship loads with not much reasonable justification

Load of bollocks.

Id be annoyed if Essendon didnt talk to players contracted or not. Who cares. That's the business. Every club for themselves. Its a competition. Same as list managers driving a hard deal. Its just the media trying to arrouse interest and earn a buck.
Matthew Lloyd’s boorish faux-outrage is worthy of a Gold Logie, if hypocrisy was a category.
