It would be interesting if Geelong got to pick 6 and there is a draftee they wanted but didn't think they could get, would they really want to use that pick on CameronOr we take him at 6 in the draft. Game glitch. lulz

Actually that will not happen.
AFL HQ cannot afford to lose the NSW market, they have invested too much in it already
AFL HQ want revenue increases in the millions of dollars, no doubt about it and the players want more money
Why all this talk of matching Cameron but not Williams
Please explain how it is delusional when looking at how old he is?I know how years work.
With respect I'd argue you are slightly delusional.
The giants have mostly been nice guy so far but I can see them playing hard ball on this one.
Good luck.
He had his team favorite in a grand final. Won the coleman by a lot for modern standards and has kicked the most goals outside of 5he ancient guys.
That's why the Giants will be compensated fairly by Geelong.
I'd rather not match, I believe Pure_Ownage suggested on the GIANTS board we accept the band 1 and then cats pay overs for one of our fringe players looking for a move (perhaps O'Halloran) , that's a much better result for both clubs imo
The Giants model means they will always be replenishing their list with high draft picks.Nope, Geelong have little in the bargining department.
This is where some are deluded.
It involves other clubs and meeting their demands.
The main goal is not to lose the NSW market and to increase revenue in the hundreds of millions of dollars boosting player opportunities and salaries.
The desire of an aging Geelong list is miniscule in the broader scheme of things.
What Geelong wants is just bad business and AFL HQ will not throw the baby out with the bath water!!
Especially due to CoVid, AFL HQ know they need to be financially smart and astute and market revenue becomes critical
The Giants model means they will always be replenishing their list with high draft picks.
They aren't bottoming out anytime soon.
Getting a fair deal for Cameron will not change that.
They still have a strong list and will likely go to the draft with 3 or 4 more first round picks this year.

Show me a professional sport in history where the top players consistently leave for cellar dweller clubs. It is absolute fantasy to assume FA, which gives all the rights to the players, has any major part in natural equalisation. You answered your own question, the system is there to take calculated risks, through list strategy, to prioritise high draft picks and top end talent. Most clubs build a list profile through the draft and add key pieces via trade or FA to challenge. Where clubs come unstuck is generally through poor leadership. They either can’t stand the external pressure to wait the course with a developing list and pull the trigger on Trades or FA that go completely against their own rules for building a list, or they over estimate the talent on their list. Clubs like Geelong, Richmond, Brisbane, Port, West Coast and the Pies are all recent examples of risks that have worked, to varying degrees of success. Clubs like the Roos, Dees, Bombers and Crows are recent examples of taking the exact same risks, but have all failed one way or another.More than a bad look, it disenfranchises fans of bottom clubs that are patiently waiting for draft picks or trades to make a difference. When they spend years developing a quality recruitment and head into their prime they bugger off to a top club. If Cameron was going to the roos or the blues I'd be all for it. The tigers and cats are already far better than the bottom 10 clubs. Why have rules that allow the gap to widen even further? Do they really want the same clubs succeeding every year?
Yes and push for a fair trade. They are not losing a random flanker or mid this time. I reckon they will kick up a stink.
This is where some are deluded.

Every club gets access to top end elite talent one way or another, every club. Rather than airing your frustrations at successful clubs, perhaps point the finger at the leaders and administrators of your own club, and why they continue to fail despite all the mechanisms in place by the afl to ensure success.
Whats the difference between GWS and gold coast where yuo got lynch.Nope, Geelong have little in the bargining department.

Is that the whole point. To maximise benefits for your clubyou stole Danger from Adelaide, he was/is a generational player worth a million plus and two top 5 picks FFS!!!
You brought Adelaide to their knees now they have the spoon, you sruck West Coast a blow with the Kelly trade and now you want to bring GWS down as well. Is their no end to your greed and excess?
Maybe the shouldnt of screwed him over with a low ball contract offer. Especially given he lost multiple years worth of income due to his contract being backended in year covid. Gws should of tried to cover some of that loss in his next contract. By all reports they arent even considering it.They are not losing a random flanker or mid this time. I reckon they will kick up a stink.
Jez has a been an ambassador' almost since he walked in. Might kick up a notch?
Whats the difference between GWS and gold coast where yuo got lynch.
at the time gold coast looked in far more trouble then GWS.

KD joining the WarriorsThe NBA?
Lebron. - Lakers.
Kawhi. Pg. - Clips
Kd. Kyrie. - nets
The Lakers failed to make 'finals' /(post season) when ad forced the trade too
What are your thoughts on lynch leaving gold coast?Nope, their model has and will need to be adjusted in line with their talent and list demographic. Horses for courses because remember Black Caviar never ran in a Melbourne Cup let alone won one!!
The key for GWS is bringing a premiership to the likes of Kelly otherwise the club will collapse and the NSW market goes with it to
So gold coast were on their knees when you stole their best player. Gws are not. Thanks for clearing that up.The giants were the in the grand final the suns were needing to rebuild
