there doesn't seem to be anyone hoping to lose this last game this year. Do people think there no real difference in pick 1 or pick 2 due to open draft?

will a win have an impact on our priority pick chances? im hoping for a win the west coast game is the only one I have seen live in 3 years
i don't care about pick 1. it's not going to make a massive difference, i don't want the spoon and every win is incredibly valuable to the self-belief of the group.

North Melbourne players have reached out to St Kilda wingman Brad Hill in a bid to lure him to Arden Street.

News Corp can reveal star Kangaroo Jy Simpkin has helped lead the charge to bring Hill to North Melbourne where he could reunite with master coach Alastair Clarkson next year.

Simpkin is one player who has contacted Hill recently about moving to a fourth club after stints at Hawthorn, Fremantle and St Kilda.

Hill, 29, has not felt fully supported at St Kilda at times this year and will discuss his future with the club at season’s end after being moved around the ground to a back and forward flank.

He has struggled to reach his full potential in three seasons at St Kilda and has three more years remaining on a big-money contract.

Hill had 11 touches on Friday night against Brisbane Lions. It comes as the Saints announce a review of football operations after a disappointing season.

Ross Lyon, who coached Hill at Fremantle where he won a best and fairest, is adamant Hill is a gun wingman and one of the hardest runners in the game who still has some excellent football ahead of him.

But there are hurdles in the Kangaroos’ trade plan as the club currently only has one draft pick inside the first 50 selections.

North could either split its first pick (likely No.1) for multiple first round selections or rely on a priority pick from the AFL which could come at the end of the first round. A second round pick could also appeal to the Saints to get Hill’s salary off the books.

The Saints are set to go back to the draft and add more young talent after missing finals.

Clarkson and Hill caught up throughout the year and remain close friends. Hill is open to playing for Clarkson again.

If Clarkson lobs at North Melbourne, Hill could fill a big need on the wing.

Gold Coast is another club who could emerge for Hill as the Suns will have two early picks if Izak Rankine crosses to Adelaide, as expected.

Clarkson is weighing up offers to join North Melbourne and Essendon.

If we got Hill for basically next to nothing compared to what Saints are paying him out for, you can't do that much worse on a trade for a senior player.

He's 29 yes, but we need experienced old-heads who can play a position well. We need more on-field leadership we're bereft of it because the Captain is cooked and our upcoming leaders are too young still

Hill to half back would be a fantastic inclusion until we grow our own in that spot. One of our significant holes.

in addition to a running half back we desperately need another key defender, small forward and key forward (hopefully Comben becomes that man).

if it was a token pick for his full salary, then would look at it. There are 2 currencies available for us to use.

1. Salary cap space
2. Draft Picks

We don't have many of 2, nor would we want to use them if we did. 1, I assume we have plenty of.

Maybe Jy should leave the list management to the list managers

Not a fan. Was kissed on the dick being recruited to Hawthorn at the perfect time, and has traded on that reputation (on big money) ever since.

If we're bringing in experience, you do it based on their leadership, not their birth certificate.

I thought Clarkson was going to *, Jay?

There's a price for Hill where he is worth it. He plays good, albeit inconsistent, footy in some positions where we lack depth.

He isn't a star, so doesn't deserve to be paid like one, but he would be best-22 and would improve us. If we think Hall is cooked physically, then he is a good option to step into that role.

This is about right.

Maybe a future 3rd rounder with a future 4th coming back and we pick up 100% of his salary. I could see him filling a role on the wing and if we are somehow competing in 3 years time he might still be of use. Anyone know why the Saints have stopped playing him on a wing?

I'd rather just play Josh Goater in the position. Why is Jy acting like Hill is a good player?
He was/could be again. If St Kilda were to pay the better part of his salary he would be handy on the list, our depth is shocking, and there are always gaps to try the young kids in.
Wouldn't give up a top 30 pick for him though, even if we had one. As a salary dump it would also be attractive, but that would be a horrible look for St Kilda.
