How do you know our spineless management haven't taken it up with the AFL?

But i dont think we should be expecting 8 years to become competetive again. The modern game we should expect to be in the top 8 by 2027-28

end i of 2022 i wanted us to pull the trigger on a rebuild but Harwick and co wanted to set us back a few years

My concern here is that in Hardwick's era we (as I explained in another post) had pretty much all the important pieces for pretty much all of his tenure, yet it wasn't until his eighth season as coach that we played with enough consistency to finish top four. I'm worried that we don't have nearly as many pieces as Hardwick had by, say, 2012. So, if we allow another four years of drafting, and half-a-dozen (Hardwick-style) lost years we'd be looking at about 2035 for a top-four finish.

You’re missing the point. Week-in, week-out, this board is full of platitudes about how any loss, and there have been plenty of those, is full of merit because we’re inexperienced but time and again it’s our experienced players who are disappointing. We’re in this kind of no-man’s land - simultaneously a million miles away from a flag, yet without any real depth in our young talent and nothing resembling a game plan.

Did the last rebuild not teach you anything? It can take years for teams to rebuild their list and start to look good. North have been rebuilding since 2017 and are only just starting to look half decent.

You say theres nothing resembling a game plan, its easy to look like that when your side is inexperienced. It takes time for a gameplan to gel together properly, thats why you dont often see teams rebuild in a year or two

Seven crap seasons? He took over in 2010 and we played finals in 2013, then finals in 2014 and 2015.

Absolutely, of course I’m disappointed that we didn’t win but I’m happy with how we went about it

Got jumped in the first but responded really well and put ourselves in the position to win the game multiple times
That is what is important right now

We are going to loose a lot of games over the next few years but if we are fighting hard and giving ourselves legitimate opportunities to win it’s a big positive and something that we can build on

Too right.

I feel like the team is slowly coming together. By virtue of the fact that they are more often than not fighting and staying in games I have to give way and give them the credit for what they are actually achieving.

They are also playing with spirit and we can see that. There is an obvious enjoyment in the celebrations for different acts. This team is definitely stepping out and away from the shadow of the big names of the recent past and forging it's own identity.

We were never going from a bottom 4 team to premiers in a few years, if anything we progressed quicker than we really should have making finals in 2013. It was still an achievement.

Like yeah, if we were still bowing out week one by 2018 then that would be an issue, but going from a bottom 4 team to finals in 2013 was pretty good going.

Aiming high is good, but unrealistic expectations would be setting us up to fail.

We aren’t other teams though, every teams situation is different,

You need to judge us based on how we are going, our list make up not “well collingwood finished bottom 8 in 2021 and won the grand final in 2023 therefore we suck and should be challenging this year”

Covering Lynch atm is pretty tricky. Lefau not ready yet. Fawcett and Bauer were both poor in the VFL and they're also coming off a five day break.

• Could go smaller, but that makes life harder for Faull and Sims
• Could throw Brown forward
• Could play Gray or Blight forward
• Could bring Ryan straight in

Banks has taken that role. I just hope they put him in gor the sake of it needs to go to the vfl.
