Not really player info but John Ralph is getting most of his trade info from a couple of player managers.
Explains why most of the time his view ends up coming to nothing.

Someone who can actually mark the football in the forward line could be handy.

We'd be in a better position had we let Merrett and Ridley leave. Merrett out probably gives you Dovaston and Sweid (Setterfield). We'd have an additional 1st this year (Hawkes) and the lions probably give you a F1st 2026/27 if we played it well.

Ah well.
And finish lower this year with better pick.

or would we try harder to get up to pick 1 for Duursma??
if we get Dovaston and Sweid we maybe pass on Huss.

b: Nguyen McKay Ridley
hb: Roberts Reid Redman
c: Fiorini Parish Duursma
hf: Kako Caddy Durham
f:Dovaston Wright Sweid
r: Blakiston Caldwell McGrath
in: Langford, Sharp, prior, Johnson, May

forwardline looks better.

Now it’s an aggressive rebuild and playing kids is a problem. They Deadset can’t stop talking about essendon. Whatever we do is wrong and they’ll pounce to sell ads.

its just a hidden way of saying Huss is fat, saying hes 50m behind.

But Huss did some handy things, repeat efforts and kicked a goal and had a goal assist....but they just focus on the negatives. We should keep Huss in.

Amon / Impey were due to tear us apart, even AI said that it was a major risk / threat.

Why not use the example of Perkins who was doing the exact same thing yet he picks out a kid to try and make his point the we apparently cut too deep. Okay so we shouldn’t have moved on average to poor afl footballers that would make no difference to whether win or lose. The same journos rip hawthorn for moving on Mitchell and omeara, they have no idea just pen pushers who think they’re list managers.

Its Ralph. Most of the time he could not find his own ass with his hands.
Was it tough on Hus. Yes. Does Hus still have a way to go with his fitness/endurance yes. Did he still do some good stuff. Yes.
Would watching Guelfi or Gresham plodding after the Hawks half backs be of any benefit for the future. No.

But the larger point being
Ralph used that example to say we cut too deep. Who on earth have we cut that was an elite runner with speed who could play the half forward role, the answer is no one, because if they could they’d still be on the list.

Its such a shit article, his examples of players we shouldnt have cut are stringer and Lav. They werent changing fridays results and keeping guys like that would just prolong the mediocrity.
We are copping criticism for cutting too deep, saints are copping criticism for recruiting aggressively. Whats a team stuck in the mid table no mans land meant to do?
I don't know what the answer is but at least both clubs are finally trying to break the cycle in their own ways, its too early to make a call on either of their strategies.

That’s cause he’s an idiot.

Generally that type of feedback isn’t useful and is best ignored.

The actual answer is to Aquire as much high end talent as possible in whichever way you can. Lots of different ways to go about it.

Does it mention that, even it being his first game, he was better than two of our vet forwards turning 30 this year in Langford and Wright?

Obviousily target the big FAs (King, Butters, Bailey) - Just cant see any wanting to come here right now

Next tier targets

Amartey - FA (Take over from 2MP)

Darcy Wilson - Trade. Saints paid up elsewhere, great runner, which we desperately need, suits modern game trends

Maurice Rioli - Pull on heart strings, always has impact when i watch him, cant believe he gets dropped so much. We need pressure small forwards, maybe the 3rd muskateer

Z.Duursma - On the cheap, huge upside, just think he withers away at our club, brother club

Bailey Scott - FA, just 2-3 year deal and money, great runner, suits modern game

Mitch Lewis - FA, just money

Cam Mackenzie

Phoenix Gothard - Small forward - 3rd muskateer

Jed Walter

Alex Davies - Can play as seen by first 2 weeks, will just get dropped for Rowell

Jack Bowes - No longer best 23

Switkowski - 3rd muskateer

Luke Lloyd/Henry Smith - Brisbanes ridiculous depth

Charlie Edwards/ O.Ryan (Crows kids)

We can't pick and chose too much, unfortunately

I know it sounds ridiculous but one of the challenges with recruiting these players is available best 23 spots

Assuming next season we add Martin + all of SharpeRobey and Farrow are playing midfield alongside Durham and Caldwell… that’s your top 6 set

Defence
Let’s say McKay Reid Hayes Kondo Redman, Johnson Nguyen McGrath Roberts

That’s 9 players into 6 spots. 10 if you add Ridley.

There’s some spots in the forward line alongside Caddy Kako Dursma and Huss.

Anywhere else its unlikely players looking for AFL opportunities are going to come here
