It was 2 and a half cuts of grass. Which is about 23 metres. Often let go.

I thought it was unlucky, but it's not like he kicked a goal. He bombed it to a pack where Tex grabbed Moore's arm to keep him out of the contest.
Always let go

Oh ok that's all that can be done...😂😂
Before adding your utterly invaluable comments, look at the fixture over the years and have a think about it.
Some quite special people on here.
The AFL already does look to minimise WA travel. But again, it is geography they cant fix it.

They get a locked two Derbies every season.

They also play a pre-season Derby every year, and normally dont leave WA for the other pre-season game.

They play the SA teams as away team more than they do at home, giving more shorter trips.

They play NSW teams at home more tham they do away, giving less really long trips.

And the WA/SA teams are frequently used as away teams in NT, a nod to geography again.

The WA sides would cop a much worse travel schedule if it was a purely random fixture.

I wouldn't worry about it mate, they will just come back with comments like "you're special"

No matter what they are given, they will want more.

This is why not many in Vic. care if they are in the comp or not, be better for everyone if they just pissed off completely, no-one would care.

Hopefully 20 teams come in and they go a US style divisional approach to the fixture.

Can have a WA/SA division and then they can play amongst themselves all the time.

Pre season.....
It's defo not random with the same teams consistently playing Thursday and Friday nights.
Also because the wa sides are looked after so much, only one generally has to go to tassie or gold coast every year!!

That's the way you two....or is it one...keep consoling each other 😂😂
Surely proof right there that schizophrenia is alive and well on the MB.

And the Vic teams do what they do now, play in Melbourne

Wasn't there there one of the victorian teams coach's whinging about travelling to marvel 😂😂
It wasnt about travelling.

It was Dimma Hardwick when Richmond coach, complaining about the AFL fixturing Richmond home games at Marvel.

Dimma wanted all his club’s home games scheduled at the MCG - a pretty reasonable request.

What he actually said was

“The truth of the matter is you can play Richmond games here (Marvel Stadium), but they don’t come,”

“Mate, I hate coming here. I probably shouldn’t say that.

“The MCG has got soul, it’s got Richmond people there. Our people don’t come here. Plain and simple."

Absolutely no mention of travel.

It is all about the ground, Richmond's home ground is the G. Tiger fans flood the Punt Rd end with yellow and black.

Tiger fans have zero affinity with Marvel, it is viewed as an away ground by Richmond fans.

Yeah, unlike AFL teams, NBA players and teams are actually susceptible to travel fatigue and sleep deprivation.

In the 2018–2019 season, the average NBA team played every 2.07 days, had 13.3 back-to-back sets, and flew the equivalent of 250 miles a day for 25 straight weeks.

Just a little bit different from AFL who play every 7 days, never play back to back and have only 10 trips across six months compared to 40+ for the NBA
You clearly haven't played football in your life or you're just plain stupid. Playing a game of basketball and football isn't even remotely comparable, there is a reason they can play around 100 games a season including play-offs, it's far less physically demanding and doesn't require as much recovery. The problem isn't with necessarily with the 6 day breaks themselves but when they're scheduled after a long road trip against a team who's just had a 9 or 10 day break who didn't travel.

Pre season.....
Yes, AFL minimizes WA teams travel...could make it random and send them all over the country like what the Vic teams normally do.

But they dont, and it is rare for either WA team to leave WA for pre-season.

Yeah, the AFL and broadcasters put teams on that appeal to the major population markets on the east coast.

These teams often cop 5 day breaks or consecutive 6 day breaks to make the TV friendly fixture work.

WC are protected from the short breaks, they are a club with no 5 day breaks this season.

Also because the wa sides are looked after so much, only one generally has to go to tassie or gold coast every year!!
What is the fascination with Tassie, you get a direct flight and traffic would be less than what you have to deal with in Melbourne.

WC are the team who have played on the Gold Coast the least of ALL clubs.

AFL already do the FIXture to protect and minimize travel for WC.

NBA study also notes that performamce dips if having breaks longer than 4 days.

AFL perspective, 6 day break is plenty of recovery time. Often teams struggle coming off the bye.

Below graphic shows that home teams who have 3 or less days break compared to opponent actually do much better as a rule.

So again, WC sooking about a six day break v 10 is misguided. It is the best result you can get.

Teams that get Thursday night slots, usually have 5 day recovery...WC dont have any of either. Do you want a Thursday night game and the 5 day break that normally comes with it?

You mean the teams that don't travel...😉

The only valid solutions, ie actually doing a block of games out of to reduce the cross continent flights have been suggested by Vic fans.

Eagles fans just moan and sook.

At least you aint as bad as SA ot Sydney fans, as you do actually have a geographic disvantage.

Best is always to ask vic fans on how travel should be handled

And of course, answer is for other teams to travel to Victoria and just stay.

Let’s sing a along:

Going woke and going broke - Victoriaaaaa!!!

What has an NBA study got to do with AFL? 6 days with no travel vs 6 days with a long flight are 2 completely different things, and the bye is 2 weeks so it's not relevant to the discussion, similar to your NBA study. Your graph doesn't account for travel either so it's useless to the discussion.

Teams that get Thursday night slots on a 5 day break are usually playing other teams also on a 5 day break so its irrelevant, again.
