I said it before but I'll say it again.

We were not hyped - barely anyone picked us for anything better than. 8-10th place before the season started. Expectations were not that high externally.

Just go look at AFL.com.au predictions for example
Wildcard spot was a realistic aim for 2026. 11th-14th would be disappointing and top 6 would be surprising. I'd say that was the rough consensus.

Yes pretty much.

Internal expectations I think we're a little higher and also among some of the fanbase but that's ok they usually are.

Dont think theyve been that bad this year. Probably shouldve jagged at least 1 win out of the pies and dees games where I think composure going into 50 let them down but otherwise I would say most results have gone as expected.
They almost jagged a win against the crows in their 2nd week in a row in adelaide and whilst the loss against the lions looked like a blow out they actually went toe to toe for 3 and a bit qtrs till lions ran over the top of them.

Nas looks to have worked out how to still have a big influence even when copping a tag and while I was baffled with the use of marshall in early games it looks like him and tdk are starting to click as a duo in the last couple of weeks.

They should really aim for a win against suns next week, they are shaky and saints need a scalp to take next step.

Spot on. Thread title is confusing as we were not hyped by anyone, least of all by Saints fans and certainly not by the so called "experts". 8-10 was the realistic goal and winning a final would exceed expectations. 2027 and beyond is where most Saints fans think we will push up the ladder. Instead of being 0-2 really should have been 2-0, which would have set them up nicely (yeah I know – if my auntie had b@11s she’s be my uncle). Lost by a point after being rogered by the umpires against the Crows and beaten by a better team in Brisbane, but were in it up to our necks for 3 ½ quarters. 3 of the 4 wins have been against teams we lost to in 2025 so there is definite improvement

To be 4-4 at this stage is probably disappointing as I think we have played better than that. After the next fortnight we have a very tough run with Swans (away) Freo (away) and the Hawks, with 5 and 6 day breaks mixed in. But after that it opens up and top 8 is still realistic. If they are good enough they make it.

It was changed to hyped because the original flog OP kept renaming it to 'no mans land'.

Anyway, we have a huge next 7 games before the bye coming up, which would certainly answer the question of if we've been overhyped. Gold Coast, Richmond, Freo, Hawthorn, Sydney, Giants, Doggies. If we're 5-10 after that we're cooked. If we can somehow sneak a few more wins and go into the bye at 8-7 we'd be on track for a top 10 at least. But it will be really tough.

St Kilda go back to having a negative win-loss record after their loss to the Suns tonight. Very likely Adelaide will boot the Saints out of the top 10 tomorrow when they face Richmond. So they've got some work to do from here, but playing Richmond next week should see St Kilda re-enter the top 10 next week.

Still not really sure where the Saints really sit this year, but if I had to guess I'd say the wildcard playoff between 7th - 10th.

Pot. kettle. black. I know coming from a Dons supporter (thats not the point)

Is there a poorer set of club traded players than this group of mis fits? All honourable players in their own rights but none you would consider needle movers.

Dougal Howard (Power)
Jack Carroll (Carlton)
Liam Henry (Fremantle)
Jack Macrae (Dogs)
Mason Wood (Roos)
Jack Silvagni (Blues)
Tom De Koning (Blues)
Brad Hill (Hawks via Freo)
Sam Flanders (Suns)

Throw in alternative signings (SSP's, academy kids) and its evidence they are a collective poorly built list.

Ant Caminiti
Cooper Sharman
Michiti Owens
Marcus Windhager
Max Hall
Callum Wilkie
Rowan Marshall

bolded
are the genuine hits

Jade Gresham trumps all of them

They were only over-hyped by casual fans. They brought in a worse ruckman, essentially torched Rowan Marshall, and brought in a bunch of role players. They just randomly thought that 2 rucks would work even though it didn't work with Grundy and Gawn. The evidence was there. I said it at the time and I'll say it now, it was never going to work and the people that brought in TDK should be sacked.

Why do opposition fans make lists like this to illustrate how clueless they are about other teams lists? What do you gain out of it?

Yeah, who’s ever hyped us ever 🤣
It's true, even when you were playing in Grand Finals no one ever hyped you. 😛

Seriously though, I think St. Kilda are a 5-10 team. They'll play finals more likely than not and I think thats what most rational people had them at.

But we'll really see where they're at with the super tough game they've got next week against the Mighty Tigers. 😉
