Id say Smith will have a decent headache for the next 3-4 days but will pull through all tests etc for the 3rd test. He wasnt knocked out so fingers crossed it wont be too serious. Id be suprised if he doesnt play the 3rd test.
Doubt they'll chance him less than a week later after a concussion.

We aren't scoring at 4-5 an over. It's an easy enough pitch to survive but scoring quick is impossible. Take the draw, move on.
That wasnt the point i was making, i was summing up the state of the match. Think you missed my earlier post, where i stated this isnt going to be anything other than a draw.

Whats the 5 day rule they were talking about?

If u have a concussion u cant play cricket for 5 days?

Why is there more speculation about Bancroft being dropped in comparison to Warner.

Least we can back Bancroft to take some good catches and scratch around for a while.

Warner’s record in English is terrible. His career average should have no basis when selecting him in England.

If Smith is out of the third we're in big trouble. That said from a pure cricket stand point losing the Third Test wouldn't be so bad, there hasn't really been a genuine close Ashes for a long time and heading into the fourth Test 1-1 would be great for that.

If Marnus was to play and hit runs it would also make a potential top order reshuffle interesting if Bancroft continues to struggle. Can't drop Head or Wade so maybe they'd look at Khawaja opening and Marnus to 3.

Yeah, we have to go back a decade for the last time the fate of the Ashes was decided in the 5th test.

This Nasser banter on Warne is great, calling him out on fanboying over Taylor and Border and whinging about Gilchrist and Ponting all the time.

missed it, what did he say

If border was made skipper when Warne was an established player he would have hated the bloke.

Warne never gave waugh or Ponting a chance became he was shitty that his own idiocy cost him the captaincy but introspection is hard being a sour whinger not so much.

yep

warne wants all the credit for anything good, but when it went wrong the captain didnt do something

Thanks for that. I think grade 1 can be ruled out, given what they were saying. The dazed sounds like it was more than a minute.

All I know about the dizzy spell is what Holding said. "He woke up this morning with a bit of a headache, and feeling a bit dizzy."

Anyway, Labuschagne has become the first concussion replacement in Test history.

Forget rain we dropped five catches and stuffed up multiple reviews, we could have overcome the rain without those many errors.

Warner owes the side big time after this test. Time he pulls his finger out and stops being a ******* sook.

A great example of this is (from memory) in his recent book where he blames Ponting for a loss in I think 05 for not bowling him sooner, but also says he got out because he stayed up all night partying during the Test before batting so they had a small total defend. Puts all the blame for the loss on Ponting in his telling.

Warners record in england is better than bancrofts in Australia.

Bancroft has done stuff all in seven ashes tests now.

Warne was only tolerated by a few captains due his his ability on the field..., ala Keith Miller...

This on Cricinfo suggests it’s highly unlikely Smith plays the next Test: https://www.espncricinfo.com/story/_/id/27412396/steven-smith-withdrawn-lord-test-due-concussion

These bits in particular:

On the official notification by the Australian team to the ICC match referee Ranjan Madugalle, Smith's symptoms were described as "headache, dizziness, feeling slowed down, feeling in a fog, don't feel right, drowsiness". He is set to undergo further precautionary scans on his neck to assess whether there is any further damage.

And:

CA's policy underlines the fact that a graded return to physical activity is required, and if there is any instance of a deterioration or setback then the process must begin again: "Staged physical activity should be upgraded on a graduated basis with progression through stages and Participants must return to a previous stage if symptoms worsen. A Participant may be required to sit out the duration of a multi-day match and/or further matches if required through the medical review."

And:

Lastly, the ICC's guidelines make a similar statement but also add that a typical recovery process will take about seven days to complete.
