Several Swans Academy kids had sub 8sec agility, sub 3 sec 20m and 20.3 plus yoyo.. all seen as elite.
Throw that 72kg body around, especially as a mid playing the Lions NEAFL team, and you are just another skinny kid who can't get the contested ball.
Ie... Hirst... should have just kept him for the pre-season and at least given him a chance.
He would have tested well too. Had pretty good stats playing u18 games all year, and im not sure, but playing the private school footy pads the stats too.
These Swans academy kids are getting into it with NEAFL men and Sydney prems. I know the quality may not be there, but my God, they are physical, or they are nothing.
I said it before. Our boys are disadvantaged by their hard work in the gym so they can cut it against men, because it is seen as them having less development available to them.
Maybe bring back Mick O and Tadgh to the coaching and development table. Crouch as a player was was fantastic. But his game plans aren't aligned with the recruiters wants
Love most of this post - I wouldn't know about the last sentence though.

Hopefully good news on the cat B front.

I’m really excited about this one, Punts. Got some mongrel about him to go with the skills

Also I need a new fav now Smooch has retired

He just looks like a footballer. Big hard, kicks it beautifully, a bit of mongrel.

Pretty happy with this year's draft. Some quality midfielders and half-backs and Elijah T the potential excitement machine.

Is it that much stronger these days though? Wasn't Grassy looking great in the SANFL and now according to posters he looks a dud in the NEAFL.
With GWS, GC, Brissy and Swans reserves the NEAFL must be close to passing the SANFL if it hasn't already. Couple of other pretty good teams too.
Grassy is a ruck. And a developing one at that.
His size made him a force in the SANFL, but his skill lacks.
SANFL is still way ahead of NEAFL though.

Crowds average over 2000 per game plus a 35000 plus GF crowd.

Pretty sure that the recruiters would be more active at that level too.

All three Cat B spots have been taken, so nothing to be announced.

We have just one spot left and that appears to be for a pre season supplementary list selection
Thanks, can you confirm who they are? Wicks is still one and there’s that new Irish guy, I think. Who’s the third?

SANFL is a better true comp, they actually have supporters and the games are televised live. However in terms of standard of the games I am not sure if it is so cut and dry anymore especially given how many times the AFL neafl sides play each other. It will be very interesting to see how Rose goes at Sturt and Pinke wherever he has gone. Jordan Foote has continued in the same vein at WWT as he did with the swans. I think the NEAFL is continuing to get better, with better interest and recognition from interstate. There have been another round of ex afl quality recruits into the community Neafl sides for next year, plus the four academies are pumping some awesome players into the system.

I would speculate that Brisbane would have beaten most sanfl sides last year. Likewise the way sydney is looking in terms of a healthy list I speculate they might also give most sanfl sides a good run next year.

I would love it if one day the neafl was considered on par with sanfl, but there is probably a way to go yet.

I like the first rookie pick he’s worth a punt if he can get his possession up to 20 he’s got potential. Rather him than some meh inside mid that can’t kick
So almost double his possessions that he got vs 17 and 18 year olds playing men.
Hmm. Ok

Apparently Taylor skills are remarkable according to the swans team

they really wanted Gould and that was the stradigy going into night2

seems there confident all can play senior footy in 2020 , definitely Gould and Stephens anyway
Some of Taylor's skills are remarkable. He has substantial weaknesses, but his strengths are elite in relation to his competition. I watched him at Colts level and will post up a bit of a profile tomorrow

Beatson said his ability inside and outside skills of equal measure made him our first choice. It seems this was the critical factor in us selecting him before Green.

Ah, okay. For some reason I thought he’d been added to the main list.

Bell's management have hinted he got a 2 year extension, which would require his elevation, at least for next year.

The club has confirmed nothing and as our BigFooty list manager, Robbieando will only report official announcements.

I am happy to go with Robbieando's rules in this regard as I rely so heavily on his knowledge of the state of our list.

However I also reserve the right to stir him up a little on occasion for being such a stickler.

As a long time supporters of the Swans Academy, thought you'd be interested to see another product being listed in the rookie draft by the Eagles:

West Coast have taken mature-age Claremont forward Anthony Treacy and Tasmanian midfielder Mitch O’Neill with their two live picks in Friday’s rookie draft.

Treacy, 22, is a potential replacement for premiership forward Willie Rioli, who is expected to miss the entire 2020 season after being provisionally suspended for alleged drug violations.

The Broome product reignited his career with the Tigers in the WAFL this season after suffering an anterior cruciate ligament tear two years ago.

The 181cm livewire completed school in Sydney and was part of the Swans’ academy before he returned to broom following his knee injury.

Treacy kicked 18 goals in 17 league games for Claremont and was taken with pick 11.

Proabably similar weaknesses to Jetta in 2010. Too slender, pushed off the ball, can't tackle too well, work rate isn't high enough and goes missing in games but those weaknesses did not stop Jetta being one of our most important and best players in 2012 when it really mattered.
