Yeah look coming back to test cricket don’t think he’s doing that but no reason he can’t play the next WC. However you never know a big Aus or England test series and they asked him would he say no? Right now he would be in 12-18 months who knows
The bloke had to be pushed kicking and screaming to even play this World Cup. He's openly said multiple times that he does not like playing cricket and is exhausted. He's chasing the cash for a few years to set his family up and then retiring to go fishing. He's not coming back.

If they could get all or most of these guys on deck, you’d have to think SA’s best chance of rebuilding a competitive test batting line up would be to try and play like England wouldn’t you? Verreyne is another who can play this way
Most of these guys will barely play Test cricket anymore. For example every member of this XI will be playing in the SA20 rather than the Test series in New Zealand at the start of next year. Test cricket in South Africa is essentially dead replaced by Indian cement companies and Graeme Smith's house extensions.

This is like a microcosm of how batsmen would have felt playing test cricket against the West Indies: the knowledge that on any given day, at least one of their bowlers is going to just destroy you.

That’s what the current SA batting line up would feel like for a lot of attacks just now. Not sure how long it will last but boy it’s incredible to watch
You may want to take it a little bit easy there.

They literally failed a chase to the Netherlands a week ago

Whilst true never say never so to speak. He will need a break for sure but in 12 months who knows

That’s more or less my point. If - that’s the question - they could find a way to get these blokes on deck

A) hence the use of the word ‘microcosm’
B) in their much-longer-than-just-a-few-months reign of terror the West Indies would still often find a way to just inexplicably lose a match horribly that they weren’t supposed to
