Autopsy 8 point loss to Essendon

Agreed he has tried to give the experienced players time to get back into form but the injuries and selections have given them a complacency that they basically can't get dropped.

Time is now to make a line in the sand moment and drop a veteran for a debutant, season is cooked as you can't make finals with 11 losses and we have 4-5 designated losses atleast on the fixture left. Might as well see slightly worse performance from youngsters but get games into them and give the other guys in the side a big kick up the arse

The veteran that should be dropped is Lloyd jeez enough is enough surely. I was fine giving the guys a month as I understood there wasn’t too many options but seriously over it now they have had plenty of time. Get some games into the kids in the roles they will eventually play so CC plays inside mid for instance, get Bowman in (next couple of weeks).

4-5 losses you are generous apart from WCE who are we beating? I would be sceptical to tip us against Richmond!

Any combination of Edwards, Snell, Buller would be welcome over Francis and Hamling. Those two aren't helping us win, and they won't help us win in the future. There is no point in playing them.

Hamling I don’t mind but not as a forward that’s just silly. Watch Francis and his 3 goals in a quarter keep him in the side for 8 weeks. We know our coach won’t make calls

Francis was far from the worst vs the Dons.

I do think he had a bit of mind head though.

Changes for me would be
OUT: Hamling and Paton
IN: Buller and Hanily

Hanily would be sub so could go someone else like Mitchell if they want.

Hamling just isn't a traditional forward, Buller is. He may not be dominating VFL but he'll get in better positions than Hamling will and a better chance to bring it to ground instead of being out marked.

Jmac has been atrocious. Yea he tried but his kicking has cost us dearly .

Lloyd isn’t a walk up start anymore and belongs in the vfl atm.

I understand it’s largely due to injury, but that forward line is without doubt the worst forward line to take the field in an afl game . Deplorable
I don't think it was their fault. Cox said before the game we were going to bomb in and we did. He gave the forwards no chance. They got Goldie back and all their interceptors had a field day. Just shit coaching. About the dumbest coaching ever

Much rather:

Out: Francis Paton and Lloyd (Florent to sub)

In: Buller Hanily Snell (Sheldrick into 22)

Would then basically mean we have:

Backline: Hamling Snell McCartin Blakey Wicks Rampe (Roberts bench)

Midfield: JJ CH.Warner Bice

Grundy Heeney Rowbottom

Forwards: Hanily Hayward McLean Buller Cleary Campbell (Co.Warner bench)

Bench: Roberts Sheldrick McInerney Co.Warner

Sub: Florent

Mate he missed a goal that my pet dog could kick! Not the worst sure but fair dinkum if you are relying on the bloke I have news...he isn't that good. It was harder to miss the goal than kick it!

If a coach decides that bombing in is the only way to attack you are on a hiding to nothing. In the last we actually passed the ball around. Ran the ball in. Before that Cox had said we would bomb and we did. I wonder how effing stupid and stubborn he is. He should have abandoned the bombing after quarter time. Not waited until the last. Cox is proving to be very stubborn. That is the sign of a huge ego. Maybe we should call him Mule.

I just don't know how any forward would be happy at the moment in our team. Not just because we eff up the disposal but because our coach thinks it's a great idea to change the way we enter forward 50 every week. But he makes it hard for them. Other than McLean there is not one pack mark there. So, why bomb? Astounding

Yeah because Lloyd has a 3 course meal before he kicks the thing in! I mean exactly how dumb is Lloyd...here's an idea you have half your forwards out, how about you give this forwardline some chance and get the ball in? It isn't that hard.

Don't see how calling a spade a spade is being negative. How on earth can you watch the first half last week and say 'they tried their best'. This was after actually putting in the week prior, why does it take us to play GWS for the players to actually put in and I'm talking from the first bounce not the 3rd quarter. It's the collective too from the captain down to the last player. Apart from Grundy, Rowbottom and Chad can you name another guy who put in the whole game? There is the issue beside anything else. These players have got away (especially last year) of rubbish burst footy, it's not sustainable.
Cleary , Wicks put in. I cant believe some people are criticising Cleary, and I'm not as down on Campbell as others.
We lost by very little and it was hard to watch but boy are there a lot of things just all lining up in a bad way at the moment.

I'm not sure he's dumb.
He turns 32 this year.
Just lacks the confidence or mojo to pull the trigger

If he can’t do it play him in the vfl. I know if Chad was on the wing he’d be looking to play on and go. I know every Collingwood winger would

Great and yet we can’t play Sheldrick and have our coach sub the bloke every week? I’m fine with Wicks in defence. Cleary should be inside mid though. The result probably is the same but these guys get games where they should. Push Warner/Heeney wider where they should be anyway

I think we were comically poor and there's plenty of "talent" still out there, so losing by little means little. It shouldn't have happened.

But yeah, I'm not sure how Cleary gets mentioned at all (fairly), other than to praise the effort he showed all day (unlike many others).

Wait until these flogs see JUH kicking 60-70 goals a season for us for the next 8 years, we have no one on our list remotely capable of that. Don't be fooled by Amartey, Logan during grand final years kicking 40-50 goals. We had an unbelievable run last year. Was such an outlier.

People forget Buddy had his own demons early on in his career and even Jesse Hogan (look at him now). A fresh start in Sydney with strong mentorship will sort him out. Let's go. JUH is only 23.
The biggest flog at the moment is clearly JUH.
