hypocrisy! guns for hire should stay in their "homeland". or do as they've done in south africa and pursue them through the justice system.

Practically everyone in Israel, including dual Australian citizens has been in the IDF.

But it's probably worth putting out a warning that any dual citizen who flies over to participate in this particular war is at risk of having their citizenship stripped if Israel are found guilty of breaching international law.

At least then they've had fair warning. Probably too late now and we'll have potential war criminals in our midst (again - see Ustase)

my understanding is this group heeded the call to be part of the genocide.

I always thought the most recent one was called former but those from earlier are called president.
All former presidents retain the title, I think the media refer to him as former president simply because they were aware early on he was likely to run again i.e. he was still an active player in politics and you don't want to confuse viewers (particularly when half his idiot fan base think he's the rightful president). Whereas all the others retired and the title was simply an honorific.

Yay. 1000 new jobs…..in the UK

Tell us the one about Nukes again Dutton old bean
Meanwhile Israel gets stuff for free

Wong is truly disgusting and shameless.
Bill is a stepforward but still too soft and doesn't deal with the real problem of violent or repeat crims using the outdated refoulement protections to avoid deportation.

At least the Greens are blocking it on principle, the libs are being too faced delaying it in the hope of another incident.

Greens need to be careful they don’t go the way of the democrats
Why? Unlike the democrats, the Greens seem to have stuck to their principles and done what their supporters would want them to do - block or slow what they consider to be harsh legislation. I consider it too soft but I would prefer their honest and consistent approach to the libs game playing

You may prefer that, but it’s the same political games being played.

Albanese is going to go down as one of the most spineless Prime Ministers in history.

Can't stand up to racism, can't stand up to Israel, can't stand up to his own party, can't stand up to the Liberal Party.

He's doing the opposite of what every successful ALP Premier has done and taken on topics on the front foot.

Albanese soft-walks everything, shows no leadership until it's too late and then blames it all on everything else but his lack of leadership. If he doesn't grow a spine soon, the ALP needs to turf him. There's no way he can win an election in Govt being forever on the back foot. The whole election campaign will be framed by the media and opposition.

Last sentence. Wouldn’t matter who the Labor pm was.
Did Dan in Victoria ever get good press?

No, but the election was mostly about the Liberals attacking his agenda, because he had an agenda. They might have been talking negatively of him, but they were talking about what he was doing because he was doing something.

The 2018 election was a lot about LXRPs, sky rail etc. The Libs tried to make it about crime and punishment, but they never got any traction with it and only made fools of themselves.

In 2022 it was about too much infra spending on transport and that the Libs would convert it to Health spending, again, never got traction on law and order.

What will the 2025 election be about? Albanese has got one more budget and half a year to get any traction with his own agenda before the election horse-race begins. He wasted the first year on a failed referendum and what's he done since? ate the sht sandwich over migration the Libs gave him, almost ate the sht sandwich over stage 3 tax cuts they fed him and only just managed to avoid that being a catastrophe, but not from his leadership was it saved. This whole year has been him reacting to crises. Since the referendum, it seems like he's given up.

took the small target mentality from election campaign into government

really gone down the path the Democrats have in the US of acting like they aren't in power and so can't fix anything but campaigning on voting for them to fix things

They're so afraid of bad press from an avowed negative mainstream press that they refuse to do anything. Which is precisely what the conservative/media system is set up to make them do.

One thing the Vic govt did well was to not do all of this pre-empting of policies or agenda. If you telegraph it, the conservative media will start the fear campaign and by the time you're ready to announce seriously, the public sentiment is lined up against you.

Could take a leaf out of Andrews' book and don't give the media anything. Announce it yourself, that it's going ahead, with your own spin and let the public decide. By the time a fear campaign gets wheels two or three days later, it'll be too late and the public will have made their mind up. If it's a good policy and people like it, the media always backs off because they don't want to upset readers if 60% of people are against them.

As long as Israel has the US's backing smaller nations are inconsequential in the whole thing

And Israel will always have the US's backing
