Autopsy Autopsy vs GWS - like one of those trains in the subcontinent, far too many passengers

Continue to be uncompetitive without the ball all over the ground - 22 rounds in and no improvement in this area.

Too many one-paced plodders in our side who just can't close down opponents. GWS are just an average side but like others, they moved it the length of the ground with ease. We looked OK in other aspects of the game at times but this pathetic lack of competitiveness at stopping opposition ball movement kills us every week.

This won't change next year with the same personnel. You just can't carry them all.

It’s not 22 rounds in.

It’s 3 years of complete inability to defend opposition ball movement.

So many small moments where we switch off, go half-hearted, hesitate, take our eye off the ball....seemed like GWS took advantage of nearly all of them.

George Wardlaw is a gun.

Finn O'Sullivan seems to be an invisible man to his team mates as well as the commentators. Bloke could be getting twice the possies, and is there anyone else in the team with his composure? He kicks and then appears 35m away for the return ball. Nah, let's dink it to the helmet.

CT showed a fair bit - as cool as if he'd played 120 games before the bounce, and 3 goals; from a contested mark, a mark on the lead, and roving over the back. Believe he and Paul Curtis are cousins - it shows.

LDU on the front foot is almost unstoppable; if only his long kicking was elite, and there was more/some defensive side to his game. Often left jogging behind the initiator of the "Orange Wave"™.

Another North player concussed without penalty. League-leading, no doubt.

The comms rage about the ruck contests -- how about focussing on HTB? Fork me; that 10 min patch where we actually layed tackles in our fwd 50 and GWS got away with 4 or 5 HTB's in a row...it's hard enough watching North without getting the ump inconsistency rubbed in our faces. Level the playing field, AFL, you pack of iceholes.

There was a stat pop up in the 3rd?? where gws had had 9 htb frees and we'd had 3. As usual, the ones they miss are as damaging. LDU out the front is the way for him, needs to have a ding rather than dinky little jabs that are not his go, imo. The elbow to RH looked a double movement to me, the fella swatted at the ball then raised his arm in a fend. A North bloke would have to be more prudent and would finish his year on tuesday night. This bloke was commentated as an unfortunate thing, so he'll be right as rain.
FOS is bloody good.

First game all year I didn't watch or listen to live. Need to condition myself more to do this. Much more healthier.

Sounds like more of the same shit. MSD debutants showing more than our “leaders”.

Typical. ****.
Go back and have a look. It was far from our worst loss. And there were moments where you could see how the improvement is happening

Id suggest if we are to take anything away from today it's that we are starting to see who is going to be around for the next tilt as well as those who are merely hanging on

Wardlaw, Hardeman, FOS, Sheezel, Xerri, LDU, McKercher. All of them are locked in. Could make a case for Pink and Comben too.

Logue no. Stephens maybe. Teakle and Scott absolutely not. Starting to think Powell won't be here. Daniel, Parker and Darling are probably retired but my word if we could clone one on our list for a re-do of their career I'd take Parker

Short period of time where opposition piles on goals, sometimes multiple during games. Check.

Inability to prevent opposition ball movement. Check.

Both have been present in every game this year bar a couple.

Zero improvement.

4.5 wins and 72%.

Zero improvement.
Sorry TPA but this is only true if you want it to be. We've definitely improved. We are still arse shavings but we have definitely improved

Allow me to rephrase if you will.

Relative to the sides above us, there is no improvement.

We are in no way competitive with any side in or around the eight. The Brisbane game an absolute anomaly.

Eight wins was my mark of success this year (how shit is that) after two years of complete and utter failure.

We sit at 4.5. Maybe 5.5 to end the year.

Our defence is like a sieve. Our ball movement is generated by individual brilliancy rather that system.

And Griffin Lounge is playing every week.

Club is cooked and I’m so invested I can’t give it up.

9 goal loss is still a 9 goal loss.

I don't think we've made 'progress' since we are still doing the same mistakes and switching off far too often. We are still leaking inside 50s and goals far too easily.

GWS are the benchmark for a top 8 side and they are a good team even when opposition are on top (last week being an anomaly). They had no Hogan playing and if that wasnt the case, the margin would've been easily 80+. Heck, they blew a few chances regardless to make the margin worse.

A lot of the playing group haven't made substantial improvement in their form (in some instances they have regressed considerably) and this is the main issue. Until we sort it out, nothing is going to change. We'll be stuck here.

Cut the fumbles out, over running the ball, dropped marks etc.. and the result wouldn’t have been too bad.

We were on a march in the last, if leigh fisher, for once in his campaigner life, gave us some 50/50’s when inside our attacking 50 we could have closed it to 4 straight kicks.. however, we cocked possession up and couldn’t hold that ball inside our attacking half. Thats the game right there.
