If anyone is planning on travelling to the UK, the West London Wildcats need you!
We are the largest and most successful club in London, and quite probably outside of Australia. We field three teams across three divisions, catering for a range of abilities. In recent times we have been incredibly successful. In the premiership division we have won the last 6 flags in a row, and in the conference, we have won 9 out of the last 10!
Becoming a Wildcat offers many benefits including discounted travel, cheap drinks etc through our many sponsors. Plus it gives you the opportunity to meet like-minded people from all across the globe and have a kick of the footy!

so when you've followed a brian speaking post we conclude you are one and the same. it's the sort of logic we'd expect from you. personally i don't care what you think but i do care that uncle mick is concerned. i am not u.m. he's much better looking and much more influencial. he's also much more pleasant, except on saturday's when he's subject to white line fever.:)

it seems you never learn. same old, same old from you.
Keep me out of it boys, everyone knows I dont hide behind other usernames, Carl is Carl and GetOverIt is whoever he is.

One of the best Presidents I played under had a great philosophy when appointing a coach for the club. He said Carl, "always remember the three 'Due's' and then you know you have done the best by the club and the applicants".

"One of the biggest jobs a President and Committee undertake is the appointment of a new coach, do it right. If you get it wrong then any aggrieved internal or external people will come at ya when the team is underperforming. Don't give them the ammunition"

Due Diligence: If your going to advertise the position and put together a selection committee (volunteers that have given up their off-season time) then make sure they understand the process and you go through it from start to finish

Undue Influence: Never place any undue influence on the club or the applicant. If one or both parties tries to influence the other then it will only end in tears. If the applicant wants & has the desire to coach our club, then they will be there at the start of the process right through to the end of it regardless.

Due Respect: Always give Due respect to each and every applicant who has taken the time to build their CV and apply. Sure, most will not be acceptable however you can glean so much from their External Knowledge about the game and our club. But the key is that we will have to advertise for coaches one day again, so if you just have no respect for any applicant not only will they never re-apply, but they go back into the footy community with a bad taste for your club and are prepared to tell one & all.

Even if the club has identified its best potential, especially one that has NEVER coached before, the information and knowledge gleaned from the process would be invaluable to them as well. You never know, a great assistant coach may have been unearthed.

If the 3 Due's are completed then this keeps all the members, supporters and sponsors happy and if the coach/team fail the next year then no one can complain. Don't be too egotistical and shorten the process just to get your name in the local paper.

However, if this important process is seen as a shame, then aggrieved internal & external parties will surely vent their displeasure if the coach is not up to standard. It just makes everyone look bad, even the guys on the selection committee who fell outside the decision making process they put their hand up for.

Law of averages says he was bound to make one sensible post. Some very good points, but the fact is the decision has been made. Provided there are individuals upset with the process, I'm sure the powers that be can learn something from this.

And BB, care to elaborate on this white line fever affliction of mine?

The above is correct, however from what i have been informed, the other applicants were from the leagues you have mentioned, however 2 were reserves coaches & 1 i believe was from a div 2 or 3 SFL along with some other untried junior coaches. Also complete nonsense that Heath Tregear was offered the job - in saying that he would be a very good candidate - i was advised he was approached to see if he was interested, that is all. So it seems you were close CC - but not entirely accurate. Also from my point of view, coaching EFL & SFL is completely different to coaching Amateurs because the great majoritity of those coaches are dictated by their lists which get's paid - from what i have seen, the coaches that make the switch to ammos find it very hard to do, as they can't bring players with them & form the team they wish too. Whereas i think the appointment of Robbins was a good one as he has AFL/VFL experience along with knowing his opposition having played in the comp last year. Only time will tell though.

Possibly think it is time for a new topic - maybe what Old Essendon & Old Ivanhoe are like & will their drop from A grade produce a few players exiting the club? Have they both signed new coaches yet?

Quality posts like this are completely wasted on this forum. Pull your socks up!!

The advantage robbins will have is he has seen first hand the methods of the best coaches in the land (eade, wallace..) Thats something very hard to come by. Ex-AFL players are often gifted jobs, i think some just see it as something to do after a playing career, and some are genuinely passionate about it. From what ive heard about his presentation and what he has done since getting the job, hes is definetly heading in the right direction.

Obviously we arent a powerhouse of B section, id say if we finished mid table or had a crack at the 4 it would be a good result. Time will tell, Carls criticisim of the decision is hardly warranted.

I'm not criticising the decision, well done on Robbins, all I'm asking was if the supporters, members and applicants happy with the selection process that finished before applications closed, thats all. If all are happy, great, carry on.

Saw Robbins four/five times this year and every time he was involved in "incidents". One or two very ordinary ones where he threw some cheap ones.

I hope he has more tricks to his coaching than that.

Any chance CC and co could move on and forgive and forget?

how come you didn't query the better looking, more influencial and more pleasant bits.:p it was just an attempt to lighten things up. you'd have noticed the:) at the end.

you have been known to have a crack at the odd ump though haven't you?;)

btw. i thought the council was going to re-grass boss james. no action yet.

There was an interesting and lively conversation going on here. Re-enter Cardio Snarl and it immediately degenerates into name calling, misinformation and dissension. What part of not learning from past discreditable conduct does this gormless individual not get!

you might have caused the coin to finally drop.

What a pathetic post, don't you think he might have been targeted. Incidents ?

I will reserve judgement as I have no idea who I'm comparing myself to. Flattered all the same, BB.

May have been responsible for a passing comment that riled an umpire this year, but hardly reason enough to suggest I've had a crack.
