3 goals 23 touches on Friday night probably his best game of the year
Yeah definitely the best game he's played since 2021 by some distance, and I personally like him and wouldn't want to lose him, but we've got so many similar outsidish wings/hbfs that as other dogs fans have said he probably still won't be a high priority to keep. Can definitely see him being offered decent money over 3-4 years by another club and playing very good footy for them, and wouldn't hold any ill will if that happened. Imo we really shouldn't have all of him, JJ, Richards, Dale, Baker and Daniel in the one team, but none deserve to be dropped.

It's still a list spot.

Eh, there are some 'spuds' on our list at the moment. For example, replacing Andrew McPherson with Bailey Williams is a pretty hefty improvement, seeing that boy has been destroyed by injuries for instance.

Williams has quietly gotten himself back to the level that he used to be at before his shocking 2021 grand final. He was pretty bad all 2022 but he looks to have found his confidence again and his overhead marking and ability to get forward to kick a goal are things that he hadn't shown before.

Dogs one of the most fascinating list profiles in the comp right now.

Multiple young talls gifted to them for bugger all cost. Likely to be proper AFL players when their drafted falls (English, Naughton) are peak of their powers - but midfield is perhaps a year or 2 too old?

Got 2 of the biggest names coming out of contract next year. Got a club likely to have a fortune to burn from their home states targeting them. Eagles will do everything to get Naughton and lesser extent English - Naughton/Allen would be the best combo in the game by then I reckon.

So do you risk trying to bump up an offer to keep Bailey Williams? He’s a solid role player but is that the price you pay to keep your big stars? Do you also consider win now, while you’ve got Libba/Treloar/Macrae plus peak Bont, or win with JUH/Darcy in a couple of years (they probably aren’t going to help win a final just yet).

They should win a flag one way or another - either soon or with the next gen, it’s just do they try each way or commit to one or the other? If win now you keep Williams, if next gen probably let him go and add a young mid from compo pick.

Williams is an easy one to let walk,

He started the year really well but has since regressed back to his form of last year

Really hope the crows don’t overpay here…feels like the classic role player.

We’ve already got his role covered with soldiers like Hinge who is probably just as good and cheaper.

Plus we have Nank and Cook in the wings who are unproven but have have huge upside.

Unless the crows think he can be more of an inside big bodied mid like we need? But seems like a massive leap of faith.

Interesting time to be dropped

All very quiet on the Bailey front.

Out of interest, do dogs fans think he can play inside mid at AFL level like his junior years?

His stats as a defender/outside mid aren’t that inspiring, so not that excited as an FA for for the crows unless there is a role change play.

I've been calling for him to be played as a defensive Mid all year, I think his more then capable. He seems to be abit of a Mr fixit for us and we put him wherever we are thin. Our lack of any wingman has seen him play majority outside but when our defenders got injured during games he was one that went back to defence.
