Ol mate West Coast CEO confirmed that the Optus Stadium ground was super hard on the radio today. Even went as far as mentioning the surface perhaps not helping their injury list.

That didnt do a whole bunch for my confidence I must admit.

I wouldn't be too worried for two reasons:

1. Etihad is a notoriously hard pitch so we should be used to it ( I note Hamling said he didn't find Optus harder than Etihad and the Dockers seemed fine after their games).

2. We have just had a pretty decent soaking this morning and more rain is expected which will probably soften it a bit.​

Re rain, best to wait and see but from an ABC Article:

"The Bureau of Meteorology (BOM) is predicting 15 millimetres a day could fall in Perth on Saturday and Sunday.

There is no one else apart from Lin. Honey is too slow and small. Unless Redder’s lines him up early - my favourite option as Jack needs a few weeks off to get his knee right.

Well worth a try IMO.

Simplifies the game for Jong and hen has some attributes to be a good tagger on the right player.

Both have been spending large spells in the forward pocket, doubt we will see that match up as both will be at the other end of the ground.

For those wanting to return to a taller setup it’s worth listening to Beveridge’s Talking Footy interview. He said what I’ve long thought - that the club’s “plan B” depends on going smaller (as it allows us to do a few different things with our team defence), and that our “plan A” was opened up and taken advantage of. He then explicitly said that plan B is now our plan A.

We may bring an extra ruck in but - unless we drop Red - I would be surprised.

Hmm bear in mind we only went in with 3 KPPs on the weekend.

I still think there is room for the additional tall, yet if we are to go small id rather it be in the backline than up forward. Hence why I was surprised with the Trengove addition to the club. We already had a stack of key backs in addition of a history of picking a smaller backlines on regular occasions.

Glad to hear it. We are clearly better when we go small. Maybe when we get more quality talls back from injury, but I still think this season will be one where we are better smaller.
