Yes, Treacy hasnt shown enough to think we'll get consistently more and I dont want the best defender on Amiss. I think we'd be better with Fyfe if he was available. Sturt is a completely different player and Corbett really isnt that good though and doesnt have the benefit of expected growth through gametime (like a Treacy or Amiss)
Fair enough, I guess I'll stop pushing it then.

My fear is that if we don't get consistent games into Sturt or Treacy, we'll lose them.

The BIG fear is that they go somewhere else and become superstars.

While I also don’t understand what Sturt did wrong, I don’t think if he left he’d become a superstar, he’d do well to get on a list. Treacy could become very good I suppose but o think his ceiling is like a McStay personally

You don’t have to look to far to see what happens to players that have played on too long. Bin Turkeys.
It’s time when your body or game is in decline, and Tabs, Fyfe best work was 2
years ago.
To not get games into Treacy and the management of Sturt?
I think Fyfe is our greatest player, but I wouldn’t be surprised to see him retire
soon.
If his body or the coach won’t give him midfield minutes, playing forward will accelerate this decision IMO.
You only have to look at the pressure applied to Hogan, now Jackson in this state
to see the bias.
When, if Fyfe is ready I’d still play him in defence rather than attack. First it gets
a HB into the midfield rotations and second it gives a true medium tall a go.

I wouldn't mind seeing Hamling get a go as the third tall defender. He plays well on the medium to tall forwards and it might help support our captain out a bit.

If Jackson and Darcy starts clunking marks up forward then Corbett perhaps becomes more of an option imo.

Corbett averages over a goal a game for a basket case club. He's no star but he's no spud.

Issue with him is he's undersized so the opposition doesn't necessarily need to play someone 190cm+ on him.

Jackson and Darcy being bigger threats would mean the opposition needs to think twice about putting their best defender on Amiss if Taberner isn't there.

Time for some Karl Worner ?

Better player than Henry anyways if you ask me , surely nobody can knock his kicking and then pump for Henry to stay in after that debacle
Actually I would love to see what he has got but might need to wait to play some WAFL. I think Worner could be a hidden gem.

i tought he showed improvement in the practice matches, just wasnt given a chance to settle after rnd 1 like everyone else who had a bad game was

Lol you don't want Hughes or Banfield but want Collyer. Go figure

Yes.

Banfield is a defensive second or third medium forward. Nobody needs one of those. He has just enough versatility to be a reasonable sub after shuffling half the field.

Hughes is quick of foot and slow of everything else. He is a defender pushed out by better players trying to shoehorn himself into a wing role. Without much success. He also has enough versatility to be a sub.

I want a genuinely quick wing. Emphasis on wing. It’s what we need for balance and Colyer actually played the role decently last year.

As I said in my previous post. We haven’t drafted outside mids or wing player but concentrated on inside mids. We don’t have enough flexibility at player selection and as a result we are ‘one paced’ in the midfield. This is eminently bought out by the vast improvement made running a small forward through the midfield. A robbing Peter to pay Paul scenario.

Yeah I wanted him to stay in, he was unfairly treated and the lack of WAFL screws him over again. Tabs isnt playng well (and anyone that says he is is giant homer IMO) but he's playing his role and therefore Treacy needs to push him out with performances. Treacy hasnt shown enough to be confident he'd consistently provide more than Tabs IMO

when has Treacy shown that?

Fyfe clearly didnt go on ball in round 1 because of his plantar fasciitis. I doudt we will see him outside the forward line when he returns

Guarantee he wouldn’t let anyone down in the having a crack department , whether he’s just that step below AFL level skills and athleticism who knows

Probably needs a few more losses to get a look in unfortunately

Chapman —> Walker

Move the magnets and play Luke Ryan in the 3rd tall role.

Leave Hughes in his wing / HBF role. He was pretty good.

Drop Henry and bring in Sturt. Or Corbett if they worried Sturt doesn’t run enough.
Think that will be the only change.
Henry won’t get dropped.
Treacy and Sturt will play Peel.

Interestingly though is the fact Fremantle play in SA the week after as well.

Will the squad be staying over for the full two weeks? Be silly to fly back spend 5 days in Perth, then travel across.

The club said they would take a squad over for the week, so I would expect back up talls like Treacy to travel, which isn't great for his prep but should cover for unforeseen eventualities.
Game on Friday for Peel helps. Get some gametime in then fly the next day

In
johnson
walker
out
chapman
henry

id love to see Erasmus sub but think they’ll give him full a game at peel
Yep. That will be it hopefully. And I would also be playing Erasmus as sub. We need more mojo and the kids are bringing it.
I'd also probably leave Tabs out and play Sturt or Tracy but that is no chance.

Please note, ever time I give up on Taberner he plays a blinder so you can thank me later.

Don’t think they are going to drop taberner till fyfe is back. Don’t think they want the 3 tall forwards to all be kids

Do the Dockers stay in Adelaide after the Crows game, since Gather Round is in Round 5 in South Australia or do they head home back to WA after the round 4 game?

Squad will stay and they will fly over reinforcements next week if required
