To be honest the best seats at least at AAMI are the corp box in the middle of the ground view.

The Super boxes behind the goals is just too far away and I end up throwing spring rolls at opposition supporters bonus if they are Asian as I am feeding them.

This kind of junk isn't funny and you should probably not post it in the future.

1st off Zac Clarke is as just as Dangerous as big Sandi. You realise Sandilands is 211cm and weighs 130 kg. Sandilands is Dangerous as he is hard to knock down and with his height, he is Hard to Out mark.

Zac Clarke is 203cm and 95 kg, Like Nic Nat and Ty Vickery at Richmond, He is Athletic for a big man. Zac Clarke is a good ruckman but is also a good overhead marker as well. Also Zac Clarke is a good endurance runner unlike sandi.

With all due respect, Zac Clarke is 8cm shorter and 20kg lighter than Aaron Sandilands, no matter how good he may or may not be overhead he's substantially easier for a shorter opponent to put effective body pressure on at marking contests.

The number of key defenders in the league with the brute strength to body up with Sandilands and make a genuine contest out of it is perilously small.

Seriously, get the **** outta here. What a load of shit. Who should have gone out before Grigg then?

Why does anyone need to go out?

Dockers brought in a first gamer tall forward (Taberner, 197cm 89kg), probably a good way for Hartigan to get started. The other tall will be the resting ruckman, Clarke rotating with Sandilands, so good luck to whichever of Talia or Henderson draws that duty, with Mayne being the other opponent.

So yes, there is a good reason for us to replace a key defender with an actual key defender, nor was there ever any reality in the 854th time since 2007 it was suggested that we "play truck at full forward". 854 times, so far it hasn't happened.

I wouldn't want Henderson matched up on any of them, as well as he's been playing, it's been as the loose man, I'd wager he'd still be utterly useless defending a marking forward 1 on 1.

With McKernan back in the side I'd wager Otten will be shifted back into defense to help cover Mayne and the resting ruck.

Think is is a bit of an overstatement especially when we are talking about who goes to your resting ruckman when they go forward.

Zac Clarke has played 9 games this year and taken 2 marks inside 50 for 3 goals. Hardly a worry when he rests forward. Also - I would hardly call him a 'good overhead mark' - did you see the 203cm ruckman get outmarked by 178cm Jake King?

IMO, we are going in too tall in defence. Harper said last night that we brought in Hartigan because Freo were playing 3 x 2m+ guys, but they are only playing 2 (they just swapped). Freo will have 1 in the ruck & 1 in the forward line, with Mayne probably the next tallest as a mid-size.

I think we need to play the extra runner in Grigg (who is travelling emergency) & drop either Hartigan or Otten (both harsh), but feel we would be too slow otherwise on the largest Oval. Depends whether we want Talia taking the resting ruckman or Mayne. Otten isn't needed up forward with McKernan back ... unless we are really looking to stretch their defence, but would then be too slow.

The selections were good. Grigg out is not good but who else were the to drop? I think Thompson should be rested and Grigg playing but on team balance we have it right. Jacobs needs some help against Clarke and Sandi and if JJ plays on the ball our structure falls apart. JJ, Lynch as the key forwards and Mckernan playing Fwd/Ruck gives us more options.

You are missing Taberner, who they also brought in.

Firstly I'd like to apologise for my absence this week. I flew out at the crack of dawn on Monday for 5 days sampling the fine wines of Margaret River and the Great Southern wineries of WA ( well 4 days after the 6.30 a.m. Virgin flight was delayed until after 5 p.m.).

I've slipped into the Albany Library to sort out my fantasy footy team, comfortable in the knowledge that we are finally playing the KIDS (and I'm luvin it). Was it someone impersonating Sando that said in the post match presser on Sunday night that he had a feeling that replacing an injured Thommo with a "fit" Mitch Grigg in the third quarter would give the team a lift (no shit sherlock). Following a 30 possession game by Sam Kerridge at Sturt surely the change had to be Out - Thompson In - Kerridge.

Was it someone who had invaded Sando's body who said that Thommo had struggled against Collingwood due to the 6 day break. HELLO, we are travelling to Perth and playing after a 6 day break!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We are unlikely to win on Saturday but we can still make the 8 if we win the remaining games. Even the Eagles in Perth is winnable now that Whoosha has put the cue in the rack. Surely we rest Thommo and Truck and have them ready for the Showdown.

Really nice debut Mitch, now piss off back to theSANFL with Sam and the other young boys.

Where are the guys with torches when you need them the most.
Can I have a Glass of what you had Jack . Love the 6 day quote and boy has Sando come up with some pearlers this year.

Grigg extremely unlucky

Thompson needs a rest
Unlucky.. maybe. The reality is that he was only ever going to get a handful of games this year, say 1-3 (probably 2), as a taster, so he knows the level he needs to achieve next year. It's the standard player development model they've gone through will all of our non-fast-track players. I don't know why people are surprised or disappointed.. I guess it's another symptom of shinytoyitis. Kid comes in, does OK (nothing particularly good or bad), therefore he must play again the following week. Doesn't work that way and never has.

Not disagreeing, but I suspect that a player doing so well in the SANFL (whether it's noted or not by selections committee) finally gets a gig... as a sub. When the player he replaces shouldn't have played. And other senior players have been allowed to find form in the team. And is then dropped the next week.

Was a good taster though. 12 disposals in a quarter and a half, would have preferred to give him a taster of an entire game to get him excited about working harder.

It was definitely a good taster.. but that's all it was ever intended to be.. a taster. He earned his taster with good results in the SANFL and good performances on the training track, but he was never expected or planned to be a semi-regular as the likes of Kerridge & Lyons have become (Laird & Brown now being regulars, along with Crouch).

I know it's completely different based on the In's, but Hawks dropped Langford after one game. It's not like we are the only club that does it.

Exactly this. The only player who they would consider to drop is Lyons, and even that would seem very harsh considering how well he played against Pies. Grigg is the logical choice. I like the changes.

Surprised Luke Thompson hasn't played this year. I thought he was good in the prelim last year. I'm sure he'll get an opportunity again, just doesnt look like it'll be this year though.

I haven't seen much SANFL this season. I know a little about Hartigan but what are his real strengths/weaknesses? Who would you compare him to in the AFL?

I suspect as some of the players approach 50 games, and those who were just over 50 at the start of the season push past 70 games selectors have been more willing to play inexperienced players in the team.

I hope that we can see Kerridge and Grigg again before the season is out. It would be a good springboard form them for next season as they really begin to push their way more permanently into the side.

:thumbsu:

Have done this with the following players in our best 22 (or would have been best 22 if they didnt leave):

2008 - Andy Otten (1), Patrick Dangerfield (2)
2009 - Shaun McKernan (1), Rory Sloane (1)
2010 - Jack Gunston (2)
2011 - Phil Davis (3)
2012 - Lyons (3), Brown (3) [could count Kerridge (1)]
2013 - Grigg (1), Hartigan (1).

In fact all teams do it.

West Coast dropped Mark Hutchings after a few games even though he was ripping it up..... now he is back.

Collingwood brought in Kyle Martin who looks to be a ripping player, but he's out now.

I get that different teams have different lists and list problems, but West Coast are in quite a similar position to us with regards to injuries to key players and others not quite in the form we have become accustomed.
