I know it's completely different based on the In's, but Hawks dropped Langford after one game. It's not like we are the only club that does it.
We're the only bottom 8 club that does it consistently and have since 2010

I guess it's another symptom of shinytoyitis. Kid comes in, does OK (nothing particularly good or bad), therefore he must play again the following week. Doesn't work that way and never has.

Closely related to cleverdickitis, whose symptoms include inventing condescending terminology to disparage anything the sufferer disagrees with. Fortunately, it's fatal....to your forum credibility.

When you say "bottom 8 club" are you referring to teams like Melbourne and the dogs who leave youngsters in week after week, ultimately destroying their confidence and hindering their development with loss after loss? Because I'd much rather we blood youngsters slowly next to our more experienced players and still compete for finals every year, as opposed to playing all our kids and finishing bottom 4. If they're good enough, they'll have long careers at the club. Making them earn it the hard way isn't going to hurt.

Have done this with the following players in our best 22 (or would have been best 22 if they didnt leave):

2008 - Andy Otten (1), Patrick Dangerfield (2)
2009 - Shaun McKernan (1), Rory Sloane (1)
2010 - Jack Gunston (2)
2011 - Phil Davis (3)
2012 - Lyons (3), Brown (3) [could count Kerridge (1)]
2013 - Grigg (1), Hartigan (1).
Isn't this Griggs second year on our list?

No I'm referring to what clubs like Hawthorn, Collingwood and Geelong did years ago while developing their premiership quality squads.

Once there, you can top up and give a few tasters around the edges. We select our teams as though we are a premiership team.

Can't help but think that Thommo being named and that he will become a late withdrawal is a plan more than to throw Freo's human velco tag off having a logical opponent.

Given that Danger's first year has an asterisk by it, that leaves one player from that list that would universally be regarded as a good result.

The rest got the shits and left, haven't developed or are still too early to say.

197cm forward
All good then ... unless wet, I would drop Hartigan, play Otten as a more mobile CHB & Hendo as 3rd tall defender. McKernan can always go back if we are stretched, but I want to see him run Sandilands all over the park!

Have seen him a couple of times playing for South and he doesn't look overly quick. Has good size though.
I have been assured he is one of quickest down at Panthers especially for his size, but in a game sometimes comes down to confidence and reaction and pro active thinking .
Guess we will be better informed after Sat. night.

None of whom left because of a lack of opportunities, or because they thought they weren't being developed properly as a player. Gunston's comments about not liking what Adelaide did to him as a person (which begs the question what sort of person he is & wants to be) had nothing whatsoever to do with football or the AFC in general.

But keep pushing your agenda.. it's rubbish as always.. but it's your agenda to push.

Bartel played 11 games in year 2002 (9 in a row, then 2 indvidual games) as a Pick #8
Chapman played 4 games in 2000 (2 in a row, then 2 more including a final) as a Pick #31
Kelly played 15 games in 2002 (1 game, then 14 in row) as a Pick #17
Enright played 15 in 2000. (#47)
Johnson played 12 games in 2001 (2 in a row, then 10) as a Pick #24.
Corey played 5 games in 2000 (R17-21) as a Pick #8

So that's 50% of these guys got a small taster early, and Corey got a run late in the year.

These were 4-6 years before their Premiership run.
(Ablett had 12 games in 2002 (first 10 then 2 late, high disposal count of 13))

Hodge played 14 games in his debut year (In a run of 2-1-11)
Mitchell played 9 games in debut year (1-4-4)
Lewis played 19 games (in a row)
Sewell played 6 (3-3)

Missed the exception to the rule

Smith played heaps of games. Who is Couch?

How does 'since 2010' refer specifically to 2012 only? Surely the three seasons are more relevant.

Because Since 2010 until now includes 2012, or do you want that year excised from the records to suit your statement.

Couch is a highly rated youngster, was anyway at Melbourne, played 3 games.

You are right Smith played heaps but was rested round 4,5,6 then 9 & 10 (Bye 11) and round 17. It was widely reported that he was being managed.

All teams manage the workloads of young/inexperienced players. Top 8/Bottom 8. And when they don't manage them well, we get Jack Watts.
