I’d bring in :

Murray

Cox

C Brown

Out:

Crocker , Daicos ,

Crocker didn't do much at the weekend, and to me looks a bit too slow for the top level, but he is early in his career, and it doesn't pay to rush to judgement on these things. Likewise Daicos didn't have much impact, and really should have scored that goal (as should Crocker with his chance), but there is likewise much water to flow under the bridge in his case. Varcoe was unwilling to kick, and a reason for this must be given. He set up to do his usual things but messed them all up. Was it hamstring fear? As far as i can see, Cox has to return if he is fit, and Crocker would be the one to make way. Any other changes to accommodate Daw are more problematic. The flexibility to send Mihocek there if needed might be all that is required.

Aish, Elliott and Fasolo were all listed as available for selection 7 days ago.
One of them, plus Cox and Murray should come in for the North game which is another 5 days away still. One more of the three comes in for Richmond.

My selections would be.

>Cox for Crocker
>Aish for Greenwood
>Murray for Daicos

Then the others to come in are as follows.

>Elliott/Fasolo (I think only one of them comes in. Probably Elliott)
>Reid (as a forward. His one on one defending seems to have deserted him. That said, it was never his strongest suit. He was at his AA best as a mark and kick player, like Moore was against WCE)
>Treloar (for finals)

Other returning players are just depth IMO.

The vulnerable ones....

>Varcoe (keeps turning out poor performances, but nobody questions him. I'm willing to give him a week for match fitness, but he's on thin ice)
>Sier, by default. Hasn't done anything wrong but is clearly in that 18-22 bracket.
>Mayne, by default. Hasn't done anything wrong but is clearly in that 18-22 bracket.
>Mihocek, by default. However, he probably stays in as a backman.

On the assumption that Treloar comes in for week one of finals (pretty please, football gods!), I think we ideally line up like this.

Scharenberg, Mihocek, Maynard
Howe, Moore, Crisp
Aish, Sidebum, Phillips
De Goey, Reid, Stephenson
WHE, Cox, Elliott

Grundy, Pendlebury, Treloar
Adams, Langdon, Thomas, Murray

In: Murray, Reid, Elliott, Treloar, Cox, Aish
Out: Daicos, Crocker, Sier, Varcoe, Greenwood, Mayne

Of the "ins", I think Murray is probably the least likely, but one of the most important to our gameplan. We need to inject more outside run into the team to beat the press and he provides that, as well as a bit of dash and excitement (and unfortunately the odd poor error, but them's the breaks!)

The word is that Elliott will play 2's this week and all going well will return for the Richmond game. Will be a huge upgrade on Crocker. I feel for him but he's just not quite up to AFL standard, at this point in time.
Is “the word” from a source inside the club or speculation.

Sometimes "sources" inside the club are less reliable than speculation...

That may well be true but all indications suggest we'll see Elliott, Faz, Aish and Blair in the VFL this week having played in the intraclub last week.

Did the forum skin change? If so how do you change it back :poo:
Yeah look, it hasn't been too well received. The desktop wasn't too bad, but on mobile it's horrible.

Agree. My Dad says IF they can play a Full Game at VFL Level. They can play a Full AFL Game

No. Being injury free and fit are two difference things

They may be injury free. That does not mean they are fit enough for the rigours of an AFL game.

In the VFL you can manage their time and efforr because the result is far less important. Cannot do that in the seniors.

Can assure they are taking the feedback on board - Mods have their own feedback thread too.
The option to change it has been restored until some of the bugs are ironed out.

Will be interesting to see if we can bounce back here. Won't be surprised if north pip us. If we are serious enough about this year we should win. We can't underestimate North. They have played exceptional footy this year.

Their best 22 is very good and they've been very lucky on the injury front. Even now I think Hartung, Waite and Wood are the only genuine best 22 guys they're missing but even those omissions have impacted their performance.

Musta been designed by some geek user interface ‘specialist’ using their 27 inch
HD monitor without too much thought to how it would look on a freaking iPhone 6...
The thing that annoys me is that mobile version of the site was fine. Maybe a few little bugs that needed fixing, but they've just gone and ruined it. Just change for the sake of change.

Maybe people just prefer the

And if they break down after going in cold, we lose the player and the rotation and yet a-*******-gain we get the whole 'oh we lost another game because we had another ******* injury!' bullshit...

Hartung was close to being dropped before his injury after a few poorer efforts.

Waite, Wood, Jacobs (real concussion issues), EVW and Garner are all best 22 when fit.

Moore - Brown
Howe - Daw
Scharenberg/Maynard - Ziebell
Our small forwards won't hurt you a great deal, they have been our Achilles heel all year.

Mihocek - Thompson
Cox - Tarrant
De Goey - Wright
Thomas - Morgan/Murphy
Stephenson - MacMillian

Yep. This is also pretty much why they went from a game clear on top of the ladder at the conclusion of Round 12 in 2016 to limping into 8th on percentage and then missing completely in 2017). Their injury profile in the following 18 months resembled a car crash. When you only have 25 AFL listed players fit for duty, as they did when I went to the double-header late last year, then you have been right royally ripped apart.

You also missed Jacobs. Been a late withdrawal the last couple of weeks with lingering concussion symptoms and an underrated component of that team. Would most likely take Sidebottom...
