F##king why isn't Grigg playing?!?!
bringing him back from injury through sanfl rather than afl sub makes sense. it's not like he is Sloane

Disappointed Grigg didn't get a spot. He is potentially an out and out gun. He's the sort of kid that would have to be doing something fairly wrong on a constant basis for me to drop him.

Having said that, he hasn't had a particularly outstanding start to the season. Sometimes these young blokes need a few kicks up the bum. Don't think it will hurt him.

He was fit to play last week. Noble confirmed that they dropped him for Martin in order to bring more pace into the team.

But of course anyone who complained about Grigg getting dropped last week were shouted down as being hysterical.

I can't understand how people are saying wright deserves to be subbed because he hasn't been tearing it up. He's been playing as a fwd tag ffs. He was running hot during the pre season because we played him in the guts. Rd 1 when he was tossed in the centre he was our best player. I don't understand sandos obsession with him playing forward.

You have lots of knowledge

I think 2-3 weeks in the SANFL could do him a world of good, just needs a bit more work with defensive pressure and get some leather poisoning. Come the end of the day, Grigg averaging 17-25 possies a game is going to go a long way to us getting a premiership.
Was his opponent goal side?

Mitigating circumstances for them.

According to Noble Grigg was dropped last week.
Meh. Who cares!

Grigg is a fringe player coming back from injury.

Can't be dropped if you were not in the team.

Noble explained that he was dropped. Could have played last week but they opted for extra leg speed...

Would not believe everything afc say & still meh as made little difference

Ever stopped to think why he's playing the HFF and not in the midfield? Maybe they're not happy with his leg speed or endurance? Don't underestimate the importance of these characteristics - they're the main reason that Lyons will (in my opinion) never be a regular AFL player.

** That may not be the reason at all, but they're obviously not happy with some aspect of his game - otherwise he would be in our 22 this week.

Has he lost speed or endurance in the last 6 months. Darth? After dominating in the SANFL last year as an inside midfielder, Grigg was finally given the green vest, came on and IMHO played the best green vest mini-game for the Crows last year playing as an outside mid (call it wing for the oldtimers). He played 4 more games almost entirely as an outside midfielder and looked fantastic. After dominating in the SANFL finals (did they reach Canberra) he was set for a huge 2014. He was superfit (according to Harper set PB's all summer) he lined up as a half forward this year?

Something doesn't add up. Despite being President of the "Play the Kids" committee, I have sensed that all has not been right with Mitch this year. Is it physical or psychological? He doesn't have the same zip this year.

I have not brought out the torches and pitchforks yet because I think there is something else happening.

P.S. I really respect your opinions Vader, I'm just boosting my likes to posts ratio.

predictable change, I'm happy at this stage but will be less so if M. Crouch get the green vest.

in general I'm unhappy with the way Sando uses the sub vest to be honest. Surely out of our current 22 Petrenko is the best choice? It doesn't have to be something you use to put someone on notice, why not let Petrenko crash in hard late in the game and maybe snag a couple? Make the sub a role as important as any other.

The same coach who didn't last the year out in 2011? That's your supporting evidence?

The 'top 10' best and fairest standard is just a repetition of your 'he was selected' argument. Indeed the measures are closely related. How did Reilly fare on 'votes per game'? Are you really taking the position that best and fairest rankings shouldn't be viewed in the context of the performance of the rest of the team? A ranking tells you nothing outside of the ranking. It does not tell us how Reilly performed objectively. How does fourth at the Crows in 2011 compare to say... 15th at Geelong?

Riddle me this: why did we move Reilly from the roles he played in those years? If his performance was as strong as you assert, would he not have been maintained in those roles?
So, having failed to discredit the award, you now choose to try and discredit those who voted on it? Give up now, while you're behind. Any way you care to cut it, Reilly was one of the best players we had in those years. I really don't understand why people try to re-write history to suit their own agendas. It's not very becoming.

Probably adjusting to extra expectations. Wouldn't worry too much, Grigg will be back in as soon as Pets reverts to the norm (id much rather last weeks Petrenko mind you !!)

We are also struggling to find his spot I think. Would love to see him used as the exit guy off HB but Jaensch and Smith are performing very well and hes not as good defensively as Reilly. He played pretty well as the HFF but as mentioned Pets was great last week and Laird seems to be playing a role there.

Cant find him a spot in our midfield either right now, best he go back to the SANFL and burn it up and force the door down ala Laird, Lynch and hopefully Otten.

You can't ignore all the valid points & counter arguments put to you and still strut like your avoidance allows you to remain on the front foot.

There are more dignified ways to retreat Vader.

Pants down and screaming for example.

Grigg has never been particularly quick. That was one of the main reasons why he slid in the draft, allowing us to draft him in the first place. Dominating the SANFL isn't necessarily a sign of anything - Lyons is too slow for AFL and he has 8 clearances and 30-odd disposals every week in the SANFL. Similarly, LJ will probably win the Ken Farmer medal this year, despite having a work ethic well below that expected of an AFL player.

You might have noted that I put a question mark after my proposition that he was too slow or lacking endurance. I'm definitely not saying that this is the case, I'm postulating that it may be the case, looking for an explanation why a promising kid is clearly on the outer at present. He was dropped last week and wasn't selected again this week (granted he didn't play a game last week to make a case for reinstatement). There has to be a reason why he was dropped - and it's not injury, according to Harper/Noble. If it's not pace/endurance, then what is it? That's not intended to be a rhetorical question, I'm open to alternative suggestions.

You stated that he "doesn't have the same zip this year". I agree - hence why I suggested that he may have been lacking pace.

I've given you the answer. Your sooky sooky la la attitude means you ignore it.

Here's another fun fact, forgetting Reillys first year, he has finished top 10 3 times out of 11 seasons

I'm not retreating. Your assertion is that 2012 was the only good year of Reilly's career. The facts are that he finished in the top-10 of our Club Champion voting in 2010 & 2011, which proves your assertion to be false. So far you've made two feeble attempts to get around this evidence, by attempting (and failing) to discredit the award itself, then by attempting (and failing) to discredit those who voted for Reilly.

You can't get around the fact that he finished in the top-10 in those years, which is very strong evidence that he played well in those years, which runs counter to your original assertion. Your assertion was wrong and it's time you accepted it and admitted the truth - Reilly may not have ever been an A-grade player, but he has played far better than you give him credit for over the duration of his career.

Not on current form. Much though it pains me to say it, Petrenko was clearly in the best 21 players we had last week. You don't choose the sub from the best 21 - that's just stupid, because you always want your best 21 on the paddock for as much time as possible. Pick the best 21, then pick the sub from the players you have left.
