CHANNEL 7 Telecast Freo v Collingwood. Failure !!

What is going on with the TV guys these days. Surely they can get the ratio between crowd noise and commentators correct. I had a chat to Foxtel a few weeks ago , about the same problem and had noticed an improvement in their games so maybe the problem is MCG games. Tonight I tuned in to the delayed telecast by 7 of the Fremantle v Collingwood game, even though I normally don't, as a protest against 7 and their delayed telecasts in SA.

I watched for 20 horrid minutes because all I could hear was a mumbling from the commentators as the crowd noise was just overbearing. I love Bruce and Dennis but had to turn it off. It was unbearable!! The football looked good but I couldn't stand the crowd noise drowning the commentators. It even sounded like fake noise that they used to use when commentating in the old days. Of course when they cut to an ad that was greatly amplified!!
C'mon Channel 7, lift your game!!

Bruce became a parody of himself many years ago.
Tim Watson and David Schwarz are shocking and boring having their best cracks at futhering lifeless media careers.

But what is P***ing me off about the telecast is what happens after a goal is kicked. The goal is kicked, then, we have a replay of the play, twice. Then, they go to the add break, we have an add, then a second one, what the hell is with that?

Recently Ian Johnson, the bloke responsible for this crap, said 7 were doing a great job with their coverage. Well Ian, if your reading this, it is rubbish. A community TV station could do a better job than this, obviously the $780 million you paid for the rights has turned the telecast into a circus.


AND, why has live footy all but disappeared? One live game a week ain't on.

I paid good money for my tv and it's good.

I've paid nothing for Channel 7 and it is SHITHOUSEN! Absolute pants. No Good. Bad eggs the lot of them.

I was more, thoroughly entertained by the antics of Triple M. I'd be more entertained watching Ch 31 for ****s sake.

I dreaded the day the news Ch 7 was getting the footy back... glad I'm going to the G next Monday.

It's just plain rubbish.

Not correct, the high popularity of Friday Night Football came out about in the 2nd and 3rd years, because by the 5th year, we had a lot of disappointing games.

Yeah that really annoys me, the point is they paid so much for the coverage they have to put lots of ads in and I suppose they think we want to see highlights

But it was only 40k ish.
You could barely hear the commentary half the time, it was pretty awfull..

Agree with everyone here 7s coverage of fnf is absolute garbage!!!

I used to look forward to fnf on 9 as it was like an event,they made it must see tv now it's only watch tv if it's a great match. On 9 they made even richmond v hawthorn games exciting and that's an accomplishment!!!

I thought bruce would be good based on the only experience i have of him in the 2001 gf where he was good. But now he seems like a joke trying far too hard. And say what you will about eddie but he was a hell of a commentator with amazing passion for the game.

Channel 7 are s**t all round.

Surely 9 can't lose the rights in 2011

I rang our local Channel 7 to register my disappointment and was told that there was a "technical problem" and it would be fixed!! Recorded the match to look at this morning and the same problem was there for all the match. I fast forwarded it to the end with same result. I am also certain that they are using canned crowd noise during the replays. I canned 9, now 7, maybe we should bring back Auntie ABC. In SA we have local SANFL games on Saturday and their commentary is so far superior that it isn't funny. Surely some technical guy can move a sliding button to get the ratio between crowd noise and commentary correct??
The strange thing is that we can hear the umpires remarks better than the commentators.

Hopefully 7 will get better - they should really they have got another 4 years to show us the goods.

So true, they used to make you want to watch the footy, no matter who was playing - even on Sundays, it was such a more professional and clean cut telecast.

Even their commentators - Denis, Gary, Dermi (he was a **** head, but he knew what he was talking about), Danny Frawly was good. Even though everyone hated Eddie with a passion cause of the Pies he still was a damn good play - by - play commentator.

Seven don't have that attraction that make you want to tune in on Friday night's and watch the game. They don't create that "atmosphere".

Oh properly the most annoying thing that pisses me off about Ch 7 is Sunday footy. Firstly at starts at 3 oclock and when ever someone kicks a goal there is about 5 adds. The game finishes at 6 and you don't getting any post game or anything.

Seven have had the footy for over 50 years now and they still cant get it right. Nine only took 3 years. Channel 7 footy coverage is a joke, its boring and the special commetary from that melbourne drop kick and tim watson is crap. The endless useless facts annoy the hell out of me. Next time you sit down and watch a game with bruce commentating tally up how many useless stats they have i think im gettin on average atleast 20. Things like in 1973 bombers beat this team by 5 points and 2 mins into the second quarter they lead by 5, who cares that over 30 years ago its so annoying. Analyse the play and talk about the game, but i guess thats hard when u have bruce, david who was never any good for the demons and tim watson a failed coach. I feel sorry for dennis he is the only slight entertainment i get out of watching tv on 7 and usually the other commentators screw up his jokes anyway. Oh i hate 7. Also here in cairns 7 commited to having their games on friday night at 8.30 how come in the past 2 weeks we have to wait untill 11.30pm to watch the game

QUestion to those in vic. On sundays what is the line up like? is the same as what 9 did last year? you have the early game at 1pm followed by a replay of the first half and then full coverage of second half of the 2pm game? Here in cairns we get the brisbane game if they are playin on sunday live and then thats it. And when 7 have the car racing on it usually goes over time and all you get is a quick half hour highlights of the sunday game. Seven if ur goin to get the footy why get v8's aswell they clash!
